When is the best time for family gathering?

Mostly family gatherings are held during such celebrations as Idul Fitri Day, Christmas, New Year, etc. However wedding receptions are also good time for families and relatives of the bride and bride groom to get together and have photos of them taken.
When do you get together with your families?

The best time for a family gathering is certainly during a wedding because during holy celebrations like Idul Fitri, you cannot really get everybody together because everyone has their own families and they may have their own plans. During weddings, it's a special date and everybody should be able to free themselves to attend.

Yes, that's true but in Indonesia, the first day is usually spent together at parents' house.

@yanzalong Here in Malaysia, that is the case too. But we've got the husband's parents and the wife's parents and they don't live in the same vicinity. In fact, some couples come from different states. It can become a point of contention as to whose parents get the first day visit.

In Indonesia, Idul Fitri is the best time. Also in Malaysia.
