Animal Lover

It's been a while since I've written a discussion. I've been busy with breakfasts, brunches, lunches, and dinners with friends and family, visiting my friend who sprained her ankle, reading, walking, shopping, and keeping up with my son and his bride's honeymoon adventures.
They had a wonderful time in Hong Kong and then visiting Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, an Bayon Temple in Cambodia. Currently, they are enjoying the jungles of Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.
This photo is from a visit to the Ubud Forest. The Ubud monkeys are very particular on whom they eat. They chose a real animal lover, my son, on whose strong shoulders they sat and ate. At one point he had one on each shoulder.
Are you an animal lover, too?
By the way, his shirt was covered in fruit and for those wondering, nothing else, when he left.

aaww. so sweet. yes i love animals but they are with my daughter more like your son. we went to the zoo several times where the animals especially monkeys tried to follow and watched her. most and if she goes where theres a pet or someone comes with a pet, they stay by and hang with her more then any other person. coco loved her more then anyone in the family including me. something special about person like your son and my daughter. i hope they will be safe in indonesia . bet you will be glad when they get back to our country. what a great honeymoon everyone will appreciate forever.

Thanks so much. Your daughter and my son must have something special about them that animals sense. It's an honor.
They have been very safe so far, knock on wood. They are savvy travelers and well prepared. I'm mostly worried about their scuba diving which is coming up. I worry about sharks! They've seen them many times when snorkeling, but this time they will be 100 miles from land and deep underwater. A nail biter for me.

Not much of an animal lover, but would be cool to witness this :) Such a nice photo, I'm sure they're having a blast! How long is their honeymoon?

I'm an animal lover but don't think I'd be particularly happy with a monkey sitting on my shoulder. Great picture of your son and glad that he is having a great honeymoon.

@kobesbuddy My hubs had a college roommate who had a tiny pet monkey. Hubs said it was so cute and clung to him like a baby. It even wore a tiny diaper! I'm too particular about my house to have one. As it is, babysitting our son's two cats are killing us. Lol! Such work for two little fur balls!!!! N

@DianneN We don't have animals in our home. Our house is kept clean, yet Jay is allergic to most furry animals. Kobe is an outdoors dog.

Oh darn, are ya sayin he didn't come away with any fertilizer?
He sure does look happy. I don't trust monkeys, I've read that they tend to bite for no reason but then I really don't know because I have never been around them.
Will you ever want to go to Bali?

No fertilization. . However, he was smeared wit lots of fruit. Some do bite, especially the large apes, but these are very loving. Just stand still and they love ya!
I would love to go to Bali. I'm more of a beach person, but after seeing this, I'd visit the jungle, too, especially to see these monkeys.

That is right Dianne, you mentioned you babysit the cat when he is away. Does he wife like animals as much as he does? I like animals very much and loved my dog and cat had before, but, it is very hard with my Sophie and I am thinking I am a lot to blame too. She is a real challenge and I am so far not doing very well. She turned 3 in August and thought it might get easier. I will tell you a little bit about her so you can understand her. She was left to die at 2 days old. Yes that was terrible. A family that never had a pet before found her and nursed her to health. The lady avertised for someone to take her because she said she was allergic to her fur. That could be true, but, I believe there is more to it than that. She mentioned that this was the first pet. She has two boys. They gave her a strange name. It was very hard to get any information out of the lady. I did get a birthday and that is important. I changed her name because that was a good name for her. Her name is Sophie. She bites and grabs. I try to talk to her but does not help. So, the vet said what I thought too is that she may always be a biter and she is still. She has so much energy and I am old and feel bad for her. This is our story and she never had a mother or brothers and sisters to teach her how to play so please do not judge her. You can judge me that is ok.

Yes, his wife loves animals, too.
I feel as though you did a mitzvah by rescuing Sophie. She is still young and playful, but she seems to need toys and treats to bite, not you. I would tell her to be nice, say no, or even spray her quickly with a water bottle when she starts to bite. I'm no cat psychologist, but sometimes they can be a great help. My son used one when Doodles stopped using his litter box. He tried everything. It turned out that Doodles didn't like the new organic litter. Simple as that.
I don't judge, but I wish you good luck with little Sophie. Perhaps other cat owners can give to better ideas.

Someone came over once and tried to help me with her, but, I do not have the energy I once had to play long hours with her. I do try and play with her and then I do not think it is enough. I would not get another animal because I tried that after I lost my dog and cat and tried two and it did not work out. I can only have one pet in my life these days. I just try to understand her and then do not. I do carry a water bottle filled with water around but sometimes she sneaks attacks me. We both just try to do the best we can. That is why I chose to write to you and tell you things because I know you do not judge.

Really nice photo and the monkey seems very much at home with him.
Its lovely to have such nice memories like that.
I love most animals even sharks whom I respect very much even though I would no be able to shake hands with them so to speak and same goes for alligators and the like.

Oh, you bet I am afraid of them but I would not want to harm them either.
They were here millions of years before us and there would be no logic in killing them like that.
Same goes for any animal.
