This is a favorite of mine. I like the ones that are from Bangkok, the spicy variety.

I remember eating sampalok candy when I was little. It just has the right sweet, sour and salty tastes. Sometimes we can get the spicy variety. It's been a while since I had one of those. But I don't like mixing it fresh in sinigang. It's weird I know but for some reason I prefer the mix that we can get from the packets.

It tastes amazing and I remember back in school, my friends use to smuggle them and they were used to eat them during classes. it was fun and a sweet memory with tamarind.
In india, it is called "Imli". From North to south to east and west whole India use it in their cuisines in different way.
