So, someone just posted in the Next Door communication that encompasses some of the neighborhoods in this general area that there is a bobcat that has been frequenting this area and one of the others in the vicinity. Also, someone said that they have had four coyotes around their fenced in yard. We have lots of deer and gamebirds so I don't they are going anywhere. It makes me a bit nervous to be out after dark..but they don't go after people fortunately! Do you have wild things around?

It's good as long as they don't attack domestic pets livestock and people.

Ooof, that is a bit freaky. Best to keep a flashlight and things like that if you are to go outside. We use to have some coyotes walking around.

They are both dangerous, although wolves rarely attack people..There are wild boars not too far away from here. Apparently, there are quite a few two counties up..They live in an area that runs along a river. Did you see the picture one of the post loopers posted of a boar..that was in the backyard?

@snowy22315 I have missed it, I posted last year the photo of a family of boars crossing the road in front of our property. A total of 3 adults and 5 piglets. The piglets were cute.

A 300 pound bear was just killed today behind our house. We have deer, wild turkeys, bob cats, coyotes, and snakes!

I think Illinois has bobcats and certainly coyotes. Scary stuff, thankfully nothing in our area that I have heard of. I would not go out in the dark if they were lurking around.

There was a mountan lion once spotted in Chcago..and you thought all you had to worry about were predators of the human kind!

Thought you meant some machines went digging in the night (I was puzzled then). The moment I saw other wild animals mentioned, I thought, 'nah, she meant real bobcats...'
Take care. There are only bad people lurking around in my suburb at night. One got her cell phone grabbed a couple of years back.

Not a lot of crime here..but there is the odd break in..and loud people at night. A few neighbor disputes, that kind of thing.

We only have a few cats and dogs over here but never wild. There could be snakes but we haven't had here so far.

Whenever I sit on the porch at night I hear animals rustling around in the woods. I usually think they are deer, but who knows? Raccoons make a crick-crick crick sound. As long as they stay in their place I am fine with them!

Yes, we have wild things wandering around at night. Coyotes and fox are very shy, they avoid people. Black bear are around here, but not usually in the area where people live.
