This is complete codswallop! Please see the link below.
ALL peppers are 'female' because they are the fruits of the capsicum plant. Cut any of them open and you will find seeds. The male part of the flower (the stamens) only produces pollen which fertilises the female part (the stigma) so that it can produce seeds.
Peppers, chillis and other members of the Solanum family have bisexual flowers (each flower has both male and female parts). Cucumbers, courgettes and squashes bear male flowers and female flowers on the same plant but only the female flowers produce fruit. The male flowers simply die and fall off once they've delivered the pollen.

@Ganma7 If I want to do stuffed peppers, I always sort through the box to find the ones which will stand upright on their own three or four feet. On the whole, I prefer the four lobed ones for that but there is absolutely no difference in taste, whether they have three or four lobes, as long as they're all green. When they ripen more and turn red or yellow, the flavour does change.

I had never heard of male and female peppers but it makes sense. We use them a lot too, I will test this with some in my garden next summer..

I had raw green pepper for dinner last night. Can't remember how many bumps but this is amazing information. I hope I can remember this. We grow green peppers every summer, now I am going to be checking the bumps. Thanks for this most interesting.
