Does your area ever have a White Christmas?

I heard on the news we have an 18 percent chance of a White Christmas. That is not much obviously,so it is not likely to happen. I think once in the time I have been living in Central VA the past 12 years...there was one. However, where I grew up, Chances of a White Christmas were more like 50 percent, and if we didn't have snow..odds are my grandparents out in the country did...so lots of white holidays..What about you? Do you see White Christmases?

Some seashore areas don't seem to have as much snow as the inland areas even if it is plenty cold.

@Courtlynn Most of the ocean areas here don't get alot of snow..unless there is a Noreaster or some kind of coastal storm then they might get quite a bit..It is sporadic though.

No snow in the Philippines so no chance with the white Christmas. There are amusement parks that have snow themed rooms but those aren't remotely close to real snow.

I know in Dubai they have a ski slope and snow park inside a mall! That is wild to think about 110 outside and yet skiing inside..A few malls I know of have ice skating...but a ski slope that is over the top!

@snowy22315 The weather forecast can be more or less precise only 3 days before and sometimes they are anyway wrong.

I live in the Chicago area so we mostly have white Christmas, but I sure wouldn't mind skipping it this year.

@snowy22315 Yea it's just so darn sloppy. It gets dirty and looks bad. And if it's still on the roads it can be dangerous.

It's pretty...but it can also be treacherous..you have to drive carefully. I am amazed there aren't more wrecks then there are honestly.

@snowy22315 My English friend has told me how driving can be very difficult and of course I've learnt a lot about snow and ice from myLot members.

It is a 50/50 change here. We get most of our snow in January, February and March.

February, as I mentioned, seems to be the snow month here. We also had a bad ice storm once in Feb. that knocked power out for 3 days. It wasn't terribly cold at that time though..it never got below 57 in here..so yeah it was cold, but tolerable.

The last truly white Christmas I ever remember in the area of the UK where I live (the south-eastern corner) was in 1970 when it began snowing on Christmas Eve, continuing all through Christmas Day. They say here that if we get even just one single flake of snow on Christmas Day that counts as a White Christmas, but I hardly see it that way myself. Christmas 1980 (or it may have been 1981 - I can't remember properly) was supposed to have been a white one here, but all I can recall is seeing snow settled on the ground from a few days earlier rather than anything falling from the sky on Christmas Day itself. Truly White Christmases are quite rare here although we can sometimes get some big-ish snowfalls in January and February.

We have zero percent chance! We have never had a White Christmas here. Well, I won't say that it never snowed . . . there has been rare days of some snow back in history - melted soon after of course. But other than that, nope, not a chance!
