All Gone

I returned home from a mani/pedi appointment to find lots of shrubs and flowers cut back. The lawn service takes care of most of these for a reason. My husband is electric saw crazy. If I'm not around to supervise, he'd cut the entire woods down and pull out every dried up plant he could find. Well, say goodbye to most of my perennials. In the space of three hours, he ripped from the ground lovely old perennials, roots and all, and whatever foliage was dried up and left to regrow in the spring. He also sawed off the new buds on my rhododendrons and azaleas. I feel like using that electric saw on his neck! Men and their toys. Sigh......

No self-respecting man would get a mani/pedi, if it's what I think it is. That's what clippers and sandpaper are for.

He refuses to get a mani/pedi, but I will have to make sure he is never home alone again! Drat! I'm still steaming.

That´s when I think that hiding the toy while I´m away would be an idea. Men never find things.

Electric saws make it easy to cut and slash so men do tend to get carried away with their power. I'm sorry your garden has been desecrated.

Please do. The shrubs look awful!!! We have a ton of trees of all kinds in the woods - maple, elm, linden, oak, etc. Around the yard we have red maples, a Japanese maple, dogwoods, and a weeping cherry.

Just for that, he needs to get you some flowers and give you something nice. Men and their toys, my father was guilty of the same thing. They had pretty rose bushes in their front yard and...he got a little playful. Oh boy.

Oh man sounds like my dad! I like my jungle of lilacs hiding the front of my house from the busy road. He likes to cut them below knee level on my sometimes and I hate it! Anytime I planted flowers or anything as a kid he would mow them down even after showing me where to plant them so he wouldn’t

@Hannihar He means well, but does pull whoppers like this every once in a while!!! Grrr when that happens. Yes, got to Florida Tuesday. Actually landed at 2:13 PM. Lol! I know that because I had to text my son and brother that we landed safely. Don't kill me, but it is a perfectly sunny, dry, and lovely 82 degrees as a high. I'm emotionally and physically drained, but give me a few days to recoup. Miss that Doodles severely.

When I was living in a boarding house, sometimes the sisters (RC) asked me to tidy up the garden, pruning this and that. After they watched me pruning things a few times, they got really frightened and asked me to water the pot plants instead.

@DianneN Looking back, I thought I did them a favor really. I swear the flower bushes grew better afterwards to their surprise. I even managed to plant a few cuttings from the roses which I had pruned (again, to their frowns). Quite a few bloomed a few months later, shocking don't you think, considering they were just cuttings! I do feel for you, let hope the perennials will still pop up this coming spring for you. I would cry too if anyone pulls up my precious flowers.
