Loving someone but not yourself

December 8, 2017 12:22am CST
I feel like it is always pressure to be in love or to just love someone in general. How can you just give someone your all knowing that you don’t love yourself. You can’t give someone your all and give yourself zero. Love yourself and then love someone else. Maybe you can love yourself and someone else at the same time. You come before someone else, your happiness is in YOUR hands, so don’t just throw it into someone else’s hands to catch.

None of those two should comes first. For I believe that we should love God first before we learn to love others because God is the source of life and what follows that is loving ourself. Loving ourself is the most essential part of living. We have to learn to admire ourselves before we could learn to admire others. Love is the most beautiful thing that a human could feel. It brought colors to the lonely world and loving would make you want to live. "It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love. It matters only that you love" - John Lennon

You are absolutely right but not everyone is religious or believe in God. So we have to respect that but you are right about how we go about loving ourselves and others.

I always believed that a person can love others if he or she knows how to love herself or himself.

This has become cliche. "Learn to love yourself before you can love others". Self-esteem is important but falling in love is base on outside forces which we often have no control of. Happiness by it's nature is fleeting and temporary.

I truly agreed in that. Loving someone won't be comprehended when you don't learn to love your own self. Maybe because loving is a part of prolonging the duration of both who love and the one that is loved. Similar to that, I love my wife and my daughter and I am happy to be their guidance and financier as well. But if I don't take care of my health, how long can I make it far? Think it will be more righteous that I love myself because I love them. But just no vice versa. Or else, things will come much of a difference.

First love yourself and when you do this you will be able to love others but when it comes to my son, I put him first before myself
