Aha and Oh, no!

Orville the Osprey was a hoot today! He was on the palm tree outside our window, chirping and singing all day long, except when he took a break to fish. He flew right by my window while I was myLotting early today and peeked at me. I had time for a nice long walk around 2:00, and guess who followed me for 1 1 1/2 miles chirping all the way? I tried to find his nest, yet again. I know exactly where he goes with his fish, because I've watched him for five years. As you can see from the photo above, there is no way I can get through the gates and into the growth. Of course, it's private property. I am tempted to leave our neighbors a note for permission to enter.

I can't get to the house to ask because of the gates. I will see if they have a camera or bell on the gate the next time I take a walk or leave a note in their mailbox.

I must see his nest! He just caught a fish, showed it to me, and took off for that nest. He built it to attract Mrs. Orville. Lol!

I think you should just take your chances and jump the gate and wander around your neighbor's property until you find Orville's nest. What could possibly go wrong?

@DianneN Or, wear a bathing suit and flip-flops, put on sunblock, carry a towel, and if the neighbors catch you, just play dumb and say you are looking for the beach so you can work on your tan! lol

I'm convinced he goes into mourning when you leave to go north with the way he's following you around now and showing you his fish, and peeking into your window. He's such a sweet bird.

Lol! I did mention Orville a few times to Doodles, but he was too afraid of a hawk that was circling overhead to pay much attention to me.

Such a good friend you have got there. I read about other similar cases after reading your post. Sounds like once a hawk decides to be good friends with someone, he/she often follows that friend around. You cats will be very jealous knowing this.

Orville does what my European red robin does all the time. The little bird follows me around the garden and it comes on the windows to watch me working inside. I love animals so much.

@DianneN I agree, animals make my days better. My husband say we buy more food for the wild animals than for ourselves. As a matter of weight of food I fear he is right.
