Christmas Lights in London

We went down to London this weekend to have a Christmas get together with my step son and daughter and their partners. We went out to an art gallery and then down to Oxford and Regent streets to see the lights before we took them out for a meal in the evening.
The lights were lovely but the crowds were manic. We went to visit Lush as my Birthday and Christmas gift from my step son was a gift voucher for Lush so I had a lovely time spending that.
When we came out we headed for Oxford Street tube station and they had closed the station so we walked to the next one along Regent street and fought our way along through the crowds.
It did make for a festive atmosphere but I wouldn't want to try and do my Christmas shopping there.
It was really cold and snow on the ground so we were well wrapped up with hats, scarves and gloves as well as our winter coats.
We then made our way to one of London's Oldest pubs " The Cheshire Cheese" just off Fleet St and had a warming mulled cider. The pub was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London of 1666 and is a wonderful old, cosy pub. It is famous as a haunt of Charles Dickens, G.K. Chesterton and Mark Twain.

Lush sounds really nice. What kinds of things do they have there? For some reason I pictured bath goods, soaps, perfumes.... could be wrong though.
Happy birthday! And Merry Christmas!

Sounds like a lovely evening. The pictures are beautiful and capping it off in a pub with a warm drink is a nice way to escape the cold!

There is just so much history in those sorts of places isn't there? Glad you had such a nice time.
