I Painted My Stairs and I Like the Results

I have oak colored stairs. They also had a white kickback. After so many years, the stairs themselves have become worn and dirt was sticking to them and making them look terrible The white kickbacks were impossible to keep clean.
I bought some gray floor and deck paint and painted the stairs. It took three coats but I am very happy with the results. I now want to paint the other set of stairs from my living room into the upstairs and the hall upstairs. This picture was taken after the second coat so I did fix any white spots you may see.
It was not an easy decision to make since painting wood is something that we don't want to do normally. But, the ease of cleaning the new paint and the fact that the dirt doesn't show or stick to it, make this a good choice for us. Right now, I am trying to work up the energy to start phase 2.
I do need to repaint the white woodwork along the stairs and that I will do later this week.

It looks great! My husband is an artist so one day I want to have him paint the stairs in our house with a picture theme, like in this picture. =)

Thank you, I really like gray and gray greens. I think with all the grands and the dogs it is practical.

You made the right decision! The stairs look really good, looks like you've been working hard with all the repainting work.

@BelleStarr Our stairs are made in concrete and they have the same tiles as the hall and the corridors.

Yeah, it's a shame you couldn't have re-sanded the stairs and then re-stained with sealer (to keep the wood look). But it still looks great @BelleStarr .

I have resealed them numerous times already, the finish was completely worn off, I thought I would have to replace them or paint them,.

Yes and three weeks later it still looks pretty pristine so it is a good decision.

@BelleStarr And in a few years if necessary the stairs can have another coat.

I am very high energy, I just have it but while I was feeling unwell it did sap my energy and it is taking time to get it back. I am hoping within the next few days to do the next phase.

True, the finish had become so worn that even putting a clear coat in it did not help so I thought this would be the answer and I think it is.

lol I knew I would have to justify this, you really have a way with wood but these stairs had just gotten to the point where I could not refinish them. I opted for what was easy for me.
