Were you an obedient child?

December 13, 2017 10:09pm CST
Today at the cafeteria I could see - while I waited for my order to be ready - a relatively exaggerated amount of children disobeying their parents. I quickly thought: "Oh my God, I do not remember being that way when I was their age." Nowadays, I think parents give more freedom than the children really deserve and then don't know how to get around the situation.

I sometimes think parents are scared to discipline their kids in front of others. People are so judgmental these day.

I'd have to agree. But one doesn't have to shout or look "mean" to discipline/control a kid.

@rebelann Aww, that was like me but the way of thinking these days is not to spank the children.

@TheHorse I did some mischievous things that need an approval from the parents. It wasn't that serious, my friend. It is a normal behavior that a child wants to nurture his curiosity.

This generation kids are completely different, no respect to elders, and so on...

I was perfect until I was 13 and then I went off the rails completely and didn't go back to normal til I had my son 18 months ago. My sister, with the exact same upbringing, was really, extremely naughty until she was an adult and then she became absolutely perfect and someone to be proud of. Sometimes it's nothing to do with the parents

I was a pretty obedient child, though I was rowdy and loved to explore when away from my parents.

I think that if you have an on-going conversation with kids, they'll stay near you and be good while out in public. Is that your daughter? She looks potentially rowdy. I have a rowdy 2-year-old in my life whom I adore.

Some parents do not even know what their kids are doing from minute to minute. So many parents are so wrapped up in themselves or their friends. Then they wonder why their kids are bratty.

Too often young parents try to unload their rumbustious brats on unsuspecting elders in places like waiting rooms for car repairs and such. Those parents are busy texting their buddies ......... and when their brat goes missing they scream the loudest

I was a black sheep of my family. I liked to experiment and my siblings like to tattle on me.

@TheHorse The Horse, I was very curious. I wanted to know about things while my brother and sister wanted to complain about me. I have always been curious. I don't remember what I did back then but they would tattle on me.

When I was small you did not dare to misbehave nor in the house nor in public. You were supposed to be seen and not heard.
