In Between

I am cleaning this morning and coming here on Mylot to take much needed breaks here and there.
I find it more and more difficult to do the cleaning. I can see that I will need a cleaning lady down the road, sooner than I wanted.
Who would have thought that I would be needing a cleaning lady one day?
I always did everything by myself and that for decades and decades.
And the everything included the cleaning, the cooking, the laundry, the mowing lawns, the shoveling of the snow. And when we had the pool, I did the cleaning there also. (It was fun).
Also raised 2 sons with my husband. My husband did a lot of overtime, so we could afford for me to stay home with our boys. I sure miss those good old days.
My mother in law was so right: getting old is no fun, no fun at all.

I'm sorry your having trouble doing it on your own. I do not look forward to that part of life either but better to get older rather than have a short life.

I can understand that it gets harder and harder. But do remember that if you are still doing it, then you have not given up and that tells me that you are mentally strong. Keep Going :)

If we could afford to have someone come in and clean, etc. we would. With my Health the way it is, it makes it almost impossible to do the things we need to do to keep our house up. I would Love to even have someone come in once a month once we get it back in shape, but even then would probably be too expensive. It is really hard to know at one time I could do so much more, and be proud of it.

It certainly isn't fun but at least you can afford to hire a cleaning lady, I am thinking I will be getting one as well.

Life throws us curve balls that we certainly don't understand. I want to stay in my 40s forever... but body isn't listening! I don't pay attention to birthdays any more and for good reason. ;)

@Hate2Iron, For me, everything was fine until I turned 49. Then.

No, getting older isn't any fun at all, my Dad used to tell me that all of the time. I guess those words are handed down in every family.
Would it help if you had someone in once a month or every other week and you just keep it up in between? I know of people who do that as they can still manage, just the heavy cleaning gets to be too much.
And then in the spring you can figure out a lawn maintenance package, let them cut the grass, cuz that's no fun, and you continue to go the gardening, which I know that you love.

they say these are the golden years but as my friend says it's more like lead I agree that the older I get the harder it is to do it all

No, and it still seems like it shouldn't happen for a long time, but it snuck up on me.

I started having my lawn done once a month last summer since they edge so well and then I did it weekly the rest of the month.

No its not and although I am just 52 years old I am beginning to get more and more minimal so I do not have to clean so much stuff, although I am doing a homestead now I am thinking about how to manage it when I am old, I may give it up and move to a small place.

I know that for a fact because I am no longer young and I will tell you it isn't fun.
