Teacher: "What do you want to be in the future?" Student: “I want to become a FETUS HEALER in the future.”

“Does it sound strange to hear such an answer?” I was having an online class tonight. The main topic of the lesson is about different jobs. The online class ran smoothly like sailing on the boat in the river. I thought that there is nothing special in this particular lesson. When I asked the student a common question, 'What do you want to be in the future?' I was so eager to hear his answer and thinking what would it be. Then he answered, ‘I want to be a future healer in the future.’ As expected, I was shocked to what this student of mine is saying. I tried to ask what’s his reason and claiming he wanted to take good care of the fetus in a mother’s womb before giving birth. At the back of my mind, he was describing the work of a nurse specializing in maternal care. I am not sure if I am not updated with different kinds of occupations in this world. “Have you ever heard about this job?” “What can you say about it? Image Credit: pixabay.com

I guess the student knows what he meant but just find a hard time to elaborate it and maybe he mean it as nurse or perhaps he meant that he is against into abortions.

@sw8sincere I guess so too. . . that may be what the student meant to say.

@sw8sincere I also anticipate that he had used an online translator dictionary. It shows this kind of interpretation.

I've never heard the term "fetus healer" before, but its pretty much what all OB nurses and doctors do, right? Fetus healer sounds cooler.

That's what I told him. I do think we can tag this term in describing the nature of doctor's or nurse's job.

I have known about maternity care rather than fetus healer.

I agree. This is what I had explained to my student.

To me it seems like your student wants to be a prenatal surgeon. I'd need more clarification.

I think it is also possible to be a prenatal surgeon. Don't worry, my friend. I will ask him on my next class. It was quite vague to me, too.

i think your student wants to be an obstetric nurse or specialize in family planning and responsible parenthood. i have never heard of fetus nursing.

I do agree with you, kabsat. It is quite weird to have such term. I hope this student accepts the real job term for what he wants to be.

@Shavkat but maybe there is a new field of nursing now? i mean, nurses who assist the doctors who perform ultrasound using the Doppler instrument where they can see if the fetus has any abnormalities? i am not sure though.

It was a shocking moment. I was thinking that he had used an online translator app and comes out to be such a term.
