Mylot or Spamalot?

I have been on this site for a week now and rather confused by it. I was expecting a little more interesting 400-500 word writing going on and all I can see is one and two sentence stuff on pretty much nothing and occasionally something. This place is an opportunity for you guys to have a voice and yet you want to tell me you have a new cooking pot or what the date is and you aren’t doing a great deal on that day? I get that for us to earn our two dollars a week here you have to throw up as many one paragraph reviews as possible alongside those comments and likes but you could still be a bit more daring and tell me what’s really on your mind. LoL. A writer should always write words that matter. It’s your life and you need to rinse the words from it! It’s our most powerful voice. If you have nothing to say then go cuddle your kids instead. Take a knee for OJ. Have a beer from the fridge or, hey, shovel that snow in the fly over states. I come from the land of Shakespeare!
I have decided not to look at how much I have earned as I know it will be very little. I prefer just to write stuff that needs getting out of my head. I have seen the other section called ‘My Offers’ where you can earn better money but they look like spam generating websites to me and not a good idea, especially as I have done my inbox spam review. In fact some of that stuff is doing no one any good.
Obviously there are lot of bored housewives, retired grandparents and the unemployed here that have to fill their days, and for third world writers that $5 a week is worth a lot more to them, but for me every human should express themselves with words when given the chance and this it. If you hate your government then say it here! If you hate your sports team performance than say it here! But if it’s snowing like it was last week and the week before then I will have to pass.

It's our individual choice to read, write and respond to what we want here. That's the great thing about Mylot. We have that option. =)
Enjoy your day and I hope you find something brilliant to read here today. As for me, I will be writing about God's love for all people.

You could be here all day, writing big stories and some will come and read them, most are in a hurry and won't read more than a few sentences. Money is certainly not the reason to be here. I usually make $5 every three months because I have a life and a job where I do make money. I stop by here daily because I have made some interesting friends here that I enjoy every minute I spend here with them.

You really LIKE some people on myLot, pains?
I love it when I find a discussion you have posted on, especially if I get to yank your chain a little bit while I say, "Hello! How are you doing?"
Not that I would ever yank someone's chain!

You have discovered what many of us have in the past: myLot is not a writing or editorial site but a social site where people interact as if having a real conversation and that includes How's the weather?

Doesn't matter how many words you use in your post. Most of the interaction will be in the comment section. If I find the topic interesting, my responds often are lengthier compare to the posted discussion. I'm one of those grandparents you mention although I never needed encouragement to speak my mind. Here's one opinion, This piece is a rant. I hope you got whatever it is off your chest. Shakespeare might have commented, "All sound and fury...."

I am neither, retired grandparent, bored housewife or unemployed. I live in the Caribbean and I run my own successful Caribbean doll business - yes $5 is worth quite a bit in some of the islands - not all, but I am not here for the money - even though I am happy to have it. Mylot is my social place to relax, write my thoughts and interact. I have also made quite a few friends here. By the way - one of my dolls could sell for between U.S. $50 to $100 - so even though I'm from a third world country, I'm doing quite well.

"Doing quite well." In all ways, Dearheart?
I certainly hope so, although the offer is still open, should you decide to take me up on it.

So, you have heard now, this is a discussion site, a chatting site. I do see people who write what they think. Sometimes I read it. Sometimes I put up a little deeper thought, but my friends just want to know what I am doing. I suppose that is the key. . . people here are my friends and I visit with them like friends. The money is just a tiny incentive.

There are a lot of us here that write more than what you've seen when you wrote this, but maybe you've already met some of them.
I'm sure there will always be those that mainly write one line questions with no thought behind them, or what they are doing with their days. I tend to ramble and write more than I should. A lot of us move on when we see the one liner posts, although there are quite a few that do want to know about a person's day. I also do write a little about the weather. And that's because I can then look up the previous year to see the comparison.
I agree about the offers, though, and I've no clue why they still have them available.

Uh oh @thedevilinme you'll fit right in with @daddyevil or @pgntwo or others here that seem to have the same thoughts although you seem to be a lot more upfront about your intent.

I see you noticed that as well. It is a good way to get a top discussion. Be a little irritating or contradict the current mindset.

Some of us here are from previous writing sites where the word minimum was as you stated @thedevilinme . You'll find that most of our posts are a little lengthier than others with a variety of topics.

@CoralLevang I really appreciate your posts, I write too much as well. You think about things, and you share. You have language skills. I think he has missed some of the people who write as he wants to read.

@CoralLevang I think what we 'write' about can make the difference on whether or not people are going to read our posts. If they are interesting or informative, people will read them.

Finally, a new writer with something to say instead of one line nothings. Welcome to myLot. I tend to write more than a paragraph, but even my stuff might not be noteworthy for you. But I welcome the challenge to write those 400-500 word posts. I used to do it all the time. Sorry about the snow post. I happen to love winter and snow, so I found it a wonderful post. I'm also an author, so I know how to write. So I will keep that in mind when doing my next post. I do write about my sports team. Right now I'll be happy if we make the playoffs.

myLot is a discussion site. People throwing up a lot of short posts that get very little response are not going to earn much if that is all they do.
I can easily earn my $5 in a month just by interacting with others on discussions they have started. Some back and forth happens; it's enjoyable and the pennies happen.
I will be one of the people who read your interesting posts. The most interesting posts to read don't always spark a discussion, though.

@paigea Yeah, I don't try to make fun ones. I get into trouble (and fun) on everyone else's discussions, for the most part.

Tell me about it, paigea! I had one post I was very proud of that netted two responses but had 35 "Likes". It was fun writing it, but I pulled that sucker back down. I thought people would like to talk about my topic, but apparently not. *shrug!*

Seems you have come to the wrong place. This is a place to talk about things like I have a new cook or my pet misbehaved. You are free to write those 400 or longer posts but many will not get attracted to them. This is a place where you just chat and for that you get paid. You do not come here to get paid but come here to interact.
Are you still interested?

@allknowing I know, they come here from the old writing sites thinking that myLot is the same but get disappointed when they don't find that quality of writing very quickly here. I don't think most of them even bother looking very far, either.
I know several of my discussions are as good as I wrote for Bubbs. Not as good as what I wrote for a couple of the other sites, but none of us write like that here.
It is extremely rare for any newbies to even find one of my discussions, so I know they aren't looking very hard.

Mylot isn't a writing site. It isn't a blog site either. Mylot was built for people to interact with, talk to someone, and just enjoy socialising without the worries of being banned for grammar mistakes.
