What is it?

I took this at a place called Sax Point, it was very different from the rest around me. I have never seen such a sight until that day I took this photo, I'm not sure what the species is or its common name, but I do know it looks very unique. Its a flower with a strong leaf blade behind it, almost like its wearing a jacket to protect it from the wind. -JL

They are called Garden Grape-hyacinth, I have them in my garden, but they are not yet blooming.

@ramapo17 Those are late winter flowers here. They usually bloom from mid-February. The flowers last a couple of weeks. They only bloom once a year.
