What Do You Drink When It Is Cold Outside?

I know that many people are fans of hot chocolate when it is cold outside. I do like hot chocolate but I like to make it homemade so it is a lot more work than just opening up a bag of Swiss Miss. I decided to make hot mulled apple cider.
I used my little crock pot to warm up the cider along with mulling spices. I do have to strain it and add a cinnamon stick but it is really delicious. I think I still prefer a good cup of coffee but to me mulled cider seems a perfect Christmas time drink.

We don't eat a lot of soup but I certainly can see the appeal.

@bunnybon7 I have two cups every morning and a decaf in the evening, but if I go out for lunch I might just have a cappuccino.

I avoid soda, it is just so bad for you and so filled with sugar or with really bad artificial sweeteners. But I do know that most people love it.

I missed my opportunity to try the hot cider as my son finished off the jug of cider we had. I also forgot to buy instant cocoa and although I thought about making it from scratch the other night, I decided the reward wasn't worth going into that cold kitchen. I think I am drinking more coffee because it's something warm, and also because it goes cold in my cup faster in these cold months, so it needs to be replenished more often. I should drink more tea, especially the varieties without caffeine.

I love peach tea but I don't drink it as often as I probably should. I drink at least 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day.

I love hot tea. Lots and lots of hot tea. I have apple cider flavored herbal tea for the "apple cider" urges.
I must give you applause for making mulled cider "from scratch." Way to go!

Thank you, we are trying to eat and drink as clean as we can and I like to know what goes into what goes into us. The only way to do that is to make things from scratch!!

I love cider, but mostly I drink coffee, lattes and espressos from Starbucks. I think with the amount of drinks I've purchased from them over the years, I must be a majority stockholder by now! lol

@BelleStarr Yes, their prices are ridiculously high. That's why I limit myself to one Starbucks visit per week.

I agree, all of these are good options but the mulled cider is seasonal and special sort of like eggnog this time of year.

It does sound really nice but I use infusions of red tea that have a couple of different flavours to them and like now when its cold I use them sometimes and ordinary tea of good quality too.

A few other times I can get to buy small packets of different flavoured tea like chocolate flavoured although its not actually chocolate itself.
Does have a very nice taste to it for sure.

@BelleStarr that's true. Also Ginger tea can be taken with lemon juice, honey or peppermint. All these has different health benefits.
