It was better than I had expected

The Christmas party for seniors from an old age home at Solitaire was amazingly successful. Two came in wheel chairs. Many came with walking sticks. The oldest I was told is 95 years. She spent most of the time sleeping. There was a couch provided for her (lol) The nun who was their care taker even carried a portable toilet seat. These inmates are taken care of with all love and affection, I noticed. We were around 50 including some neighbours and friends. There was a Santa too - a little boy from the neighbourhood. Each guest got a gift and a goodie box. Food was great - the caterers did a good job. We played housie and there were some quiz questions. There was this game passing the hat too. Prizes were won by many. There was a short prayer before meals and I got every one to light Divas that were placed in the crib and altar. There was loads of dancing - some did not give up their walking sticks while dancing (lol) I got them to water the garden - they were provided with water balloons. They forgot they were adults and had fun throwing water balloons. I got the zuru water balloons filling set. This event will linger in my memory for years to come.

I was just making my son lunch today any thinking about your posts about this party you were hosting. I’m so glad to hear about how well it went. It sounds like a great time. What were the prizes you wound up giving out?

The gift packet contained a face towel, a pen, a squeezing ball and a craft book. The prizes were bath mats, loofah bathing brush, tooth brushes and money.

This is what I like with December. Practicing Catholics all have Christmas parties. In fact, I just had one last night with my High school batchmates. Last 8th, we the officers of this company went to Manila and attended the Corporate Christmas party. Then on the 21st , we will have our office Christmas party. Here too, the senior citizens also have Christmas parties.

My parties that I oirganise year after year are for the less privileged. Till last year it was for kids but this time I had seniors from an old age home and they made me very happy.

You must feel very proud of yourself. No one is ever too old to enjoy a good party! I think the water balloon idea was wonderful.

There was so much hilarity when everyone rushed to pick those balloons from those buckets and they went all over the garden to throw those balloons.
