Has it happened that someone says something you understand but you do not answer correctly?

There is someone at the pharmacy and I was there and she asked yesterday my phone number and kept saying the prefix and the way she talks I do not like her and she just wanted the phone number. Today she wanted a certain card and I asked if she wanted both that I had for the pharmacy. She said something to the one that usually waits on me and I am sure that I am stupid. I guess I was not thinking and she rattles me the wrong way. I didn't care what she said. Does that happen to you to someone asks you something very clear and you just act like you do not understand them when you do but you are not thinking clearly?

I tend to speak backwards, and need to rephrase what I say, so people will understand what I said. It mostly happens when I have to explain things, then it can get very confusing and I need to stop and reword everything I said. I'll even ask a person if they followed what I said, if I happen to be writing it instead of speaking, which happens less often, but sometimes it's the only way I can put something.

@Hannihar They're not rude. They just look at me funny and I know I need to explain it again.

I think if someone makes you feel stupid you should not go to her and if it continues I would talk to her supervisor, it sounds to me like she is being rude.

Yes, I've done this too. Because you think they think you're stupid so you seem to have to act that way. It's very annoying when that happens.

Yes, but it rattles me more if they are rude about it. She should be more kind to you.

I am beginning to think that is how she talks. She has always been that way. One time I said something but now I just do not care. Thanks Rhonda.

Miscommunication is part of everyday life. Sometimes we try to be too helpful with our response and it is taken the wrong way. Seems like the lady at the pharmacy did that to you. Good you did not let it get to you. I have done the same thing.
