WINDOWS OF THE SOUL.

It is said that the eyes are windows of the soul, but can one really tell the mind of a person by looking deep into his or her eyes? Sometimes it is difficult to know if a person is sincere or speaking the truth. I once dated a guy who swore he was unmarried. One month into the relationship his wife showed up at my workplace and informed me that they had been married for several years and had five children. I suspect she must have followed his car (he gave me a ride to work on a few occasions) - and she also divulged that he had been doing this sort of thing for years. It would really be nice if we could tell what a person is like first off just by looking into the eyes. Some say rapid blinking or avoiding eye contact means that person is not to be trusted. What do you think? How can you tell?

Some people are just good liars and don't care, so they would barely show any signs of lying. Other's would be tortured by their conscious if they did something terrible like that and would expose themselves easily. It all depends on the person. But just looking into their eyes may not tell you much.

good thing his wife told you what he was doing - I wonder why she didn't leave him

Though shocked, I was glad that she informed me . When I told him about the visit he continued to deny having a wife and kids - but I realized that he was talking without making eye contact - something I hadn't noticed before. She said she was tired of it, but I suspect she will continue with him, because of his good financial position - and her being unemployed.

This is why we should get to know the person. If only we have the ability to read some one's mind.

I would like to have a hint of the person's character without actually reading his or her mind. What I discover might be too disturbing.

The eyes are only part of it. There are other tell tale mannerisms to watch for as well. I don't go along with the eye contact thing or the blinking eyes. I rarely look a person in the eyes when talking to them. I don't know why I don't, but I don't feel comfortable doing so, it's like staring at them, and I don't do that. However, there are plenty of other things that can tell their story.

Come to think of it - I don't usually stare into the eyes of the person I am talking to either - least not continuously. If the person is a male I won't want to appear bold.

Well, I don’t believe how someone can read the brain by looking into the eyes! I think this is nonsense! I have found many sober looking girls very clever in disguise! I can't say what a person is like just by looking in the eyes!

Same here, people can hide their feelings, but it is suspicious when they can't look directly at you when speaking - lies or truth.

@Kandae11 But I have seen many people speaking speaking lies being confident as if he is telling the truth! I don’t thinkI can differentiate people in that way! But some people can!

I find that people who are trying to hide something usually won't look into your eyes and that I find offputting.

Immediately, I also did some checking and found that she was telling the truth - not that I hadn't believed her from the beginning, but he insisted that she was lying when I confronted him.

Well, for the past 7 years. I can tell the boyfriend if he is lying to me by looking to his eyes. Lol Like if he's not telling the truth he will not stare at me.

I have found that liars are the ones with most soulful and sincere eyes. The thing is, they believe they were telling you the truth which their twisted logic told them so, so they were really sincere about the whole thing.

I know some eventually begin to believe their own lies. I got the proof that the man was married - but even after I ended the relationship he would call and continue to deny being married.

In the past I used to think "Eyes don't lie" well with time sadly I discovered eyes do lie. Though, sometimes When a person is really good from within it will show up in his or her eyes.

This is my weakness that I can't judge people so easily and get bluffed by them easily. I have been cheated by the people in the past whom I beloved to be my friend but they turned out to be not my friends later on.

Oh how awful. I've also read articles about how we could tell that someone is not honest through their body language, but I can't really say I'm that good at "reading" people that way.

If I have been close to someone for hours, days or weeks, that is enough closeness to help me know when they tell the truth. This is because, people rarely lie when you are getting to know them. They only start lying after they start liking you. I am sensitive enough to notice a change in the tone of the voice, actions, silence and the type of friends hanging around the person. If you are extremely slow to judging people, you can always tell when they lie or tell the truth because they will always feel safe around you.
