Have you ever taken a "selfie"?

From what I understand, "selfies" are picture people take of themselves. I don't understand why someone would take a selfie when there are interesting things in the environment to photograph, but I'm told it's become something of a trend, especially among the young.
A couple of years ago, my friends and I payed a "gig" at a local Cafe as part of some sort of "street fair" that was going on. There was a booth there that offered free "silly photographs," so we availed ourselves of the opportunity. Does this count as a "selfie"?
I am not a big fan of narcissism, as "narcissistic personality disorder" is a psychological diagnosis, and one that's not easy to change. But I did allow myself to be part of some "silly" photographs that night. I have, to this date, still never taken a selfie.
Would you ever take a selfie? Would you allow yourself to be part of a "silly" photograph, as I did?

@yugocean Yep took a selfie today, well yesterday. Maybe later with my mom at the mall if they still have any Christmas trees!

I have never taken a selfie and have no interest in doing so. I see my image every day and don't need to record it for posterity.

@LeaPea2417 That's when I get for cycling with an 8-year-old kid who isn't always paying attention.

I've taking several pictures of Mike and I but not of me only. Silly pictures are fun, only did that once with Mike.
I'd rather take pictures of our cats, Mike or God's creation be it flowers, the sky, mountains whatever. Since I got my smart phone a few years back I think I take picture of something around me at least once a day.

To me a selfie is more than a picture, it’s a snapshot of memories and moments and also helps self esteem issues. Perhaps this is wrong of me. Works for me though.

@Tampa_girl7 What does she use them for? We had a New Years party last night and took no photos.

I often avoid selfie, it sounds a silly thing to do. Yet recently I had to do some paperwork which needs a passport type photo. I didn't want to drag my old body out into the cold and wet weather, so I did a number of selfies. Chose the best one, and voila. The online renewal of whatever it was (government related), approved that photo and the paperwork. (I saved myself about ten to fifteen bucks just for that passport photo! Can't complain - even if it was so like a mugshot!)
