I hadn't heard about it until now. Oh how tragic! I just read that it was started by a 3 year old playing with a stove - why was this child not supervised? Apparently the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were also not working.

I watched the local NYC news last night. Seeing that man running out with his kid wearing a blankie, and another man without shoes, was just heartbreaking.

Very sad news indeed. Sometimes, small negligence can lead to major accidents.

@amadeo I agree. I would feel so bad if it were my kid who was responsible.

Do you know how my parents taught us not to mess with a stove whether it was a gas or electric one @amadeo ? They put our hand on the hot coil (electric) and put our hand over the flame of the gas one. Trust me, we never messed with any kind of stove.

I saw that on the News and I really feel for all of them and also hope the Fireman that got injured is doing okay also.
Its always terrible when fires happen.
We have some pretty bad house fires here also and loss of life is always so sad.
All thoughts go out to all involved in it and hope it never happens again.
