Hello! Do you need a personal Loan?

I keep receiving unwanted tele-marketing calls on my mobile phone. The calls will come even at odd hours. I feel fed up with these kind of marketing calls. If I block a number, they use another number to call. Today I received two-three calls from a representative of a bank, asking me - "Do you have any requirement of personal loan?" I said - "I do not need any loan, and will you please stop bothering me or calling me?" Then I went to the Twitter link of the bank and tweeted that I am fed up with their marketing calls, will they do something about it. After half an hour they replied that I could register with their Do Not Call (DNC) Registry and this will stop such calls. I did the needful and now I hope that there will be no more unwanted calls. Do you receive unwanted tele-marketing calls on your mobile phone? What do you do when you receive such calls? Do you ask them not to call you again? Do you feel like making a complaint on any social media platform such as Facebook or Twitter about tele-marketing calls to get rid of such calls? Image courtesy - Google

I would get robot calls from the phone company inviting me to choose a new ringtone, but whenever I see that number come up - I do not answer.

I too used to get such automated calls. I used to block the number but again (automated) call would come from a new number. I wrote to the Service Provider for this problem and thank God, now I longer receive such calls.

wow, they called you on your mobile phone? Some animal lovers did that to me ages ago, asking me to donate $40 a month to save some tigers somewhere from starving. I told the person that I was having problems finding money to buy foods for my young children and asked them if they could help me instead. They have stopped since.

It sounds funny the way you answered them. . Sometimes I also receive such calls for donating something to help destitute children. I immediately disconnect the call, once I come to know the purpose of the caller.

In fact everyday I receive such kind of calls quite often. I still pick up every call since I don't want miss anything important. If they are just rubbish calls, I will just say thank you but I don't want it and then I will hang up the phone.

The point is you are forced to take such unwanted calls, even if you are not interested to talk to them or interested in their product. You are right that sometimes we pick the calls because we are not sure whether it is a genuine call or a marketing call.

@youless It is your magnanimity that you do not want to be rude with them. If you are engrossed in something or resting and if you receive such a call, you might lose your patience. It is not so that if you annoy them, they will bombard you with more calls.

@dpk262006 I don't want to be rude to them anyway. Perhaps it is their work, too. Besides, if I annoy them, perhaps I will have more unwanted calls after that as a revenge

yes we get 4 or 5 a day selling something. Our telephone system used to have a way to avoid all of them and it was heavenly until it changed. Now its just trash calls, I like to let them go to my message, they won't leave a message, they just hang up...

You too get such solicited calls. How your previous telephone system used to filter unwanted calls and now what has changed which allows calls to come again?

Now the calls are very rare. I think there is some rule here restricting them. It is indeed uncalled for to disturb people with unsolicited promotions - siva

If there is any rule in your city that prevents such calls, it is good for you. It saves you from unnecessary disturbance.

@dpk262006 I am not that sure but the calls are quite rare. There is Do Not Call Registry but I have not done it worrying it may block even genuine calls - siva

Such companies are greatest spammers. They got your phone number from phone providers and they call all time from weird numbers. Everytime different number.

Yes, these kinds of companies misuse our mobile number and keep making unwanted calls at odd hours. How about you? Do you also receive such calls?

@mrki444 You receive more unwanted messages than calls. Do you have an application in your mobile to stop these kinds of messages?

I have registered my number for DND so that I am not troubled with such calls. It is irritating when you are in the middle of something and someone calls you up for something you are not interested in.

Despite registering for DND, some unwanted calls keep coming from unknown mobile numbers, which are difficult to recognize.

I get those calls too. But I just tell them that I don’t speak French/Dutch depending on the language they use and they have to hang up. They don’t call back

It is a brilliant idea to checkmate them by telling that you do not know the language they are speaking. .

We are registered with the DNC, but the calls keep coming in. I usually do not answer them on my cell or home phone when I don't recognize the name or number. If I do, I hang up immediately.

You see you are registered with DNC, even then unwanted calls keep coming. It is wiser on your part to not to attend such calls or hang up immediately, if you have mistakenly taken a call.

AH yes - the Do Not Call registry did seem to work for a bit -- but there must be a way around it for some companies because I still get the occasional call. But it's far less frequent. Good luck and I hope that those calls stop for you

These marketing companies find out the ways to dodge DNC service and would make call from familiar looking new numbers. Sometimes it is difficult to guess whether there is a genuine person on the other side of the call or it is a marketing call. I hope that now I should not receive such unwanted calls at least from the bank, whom I complained.

Fortunately I do not receive any such calls. Perhaps because my phone is not connected to anything. I just have a bare functioning phone with probably 3 numbers entered.

Understandably, you have been using a basic phone, instead of a smart phone. Moreover, you have not shared your number with bank, credit Card companies and insurance Comanches etc.

I have never received such calls but I have received such messages. I am asked about insurance and even told to apply for loans and take advantage of current offers . I only read and move on.

Receiving unwanted messages is also annoying, like receiving calls. If your phone beeps you will instinctively check the message and this makes the job of sender easier. He wants you to read his message, which you do, when your phone buzzes. There is a mobile application to stop unwanted messages, you could download that.

@mildredtabitha If you have filter option in your mobile to stop unwanted message, that is fine. You could continue to use this filter to prevent unwanted messages.

@dpk262006 thanks for the suggestion . I also have harassment filter option on my call settings. I can blacklist the unwanted messages to prevent them from coming again in the future. It is something I have started doing this month

I receive two calls per day and If the number is similar I do not lift the call. My friend had a funny discussion with person called for giving personal loan. He started explaining his business to the customer care member. He asked if you take my services then I will opt you for my personal loan. The CC caller got confused and shut the call. It was so funny that he did right in front of me. LOL

It means if you get a hint, you avoid taking such unsolicited calls. Your friend showed his presence of mind and he confused the caller so much and so that caller abruptly disconnected the call.

I hate those calls. Or even worse the ones that say they have something legal about you and you need to confirm your name and SSN. I feel bad for whoever falls for those.

@dpk262006 They dont say who they are or where they are from. And they call from different local phone numbers that aren't theirs. If you call the phone number back you get someone who swears they never called you and think you're the scam for calling them out of the blue.So they are virtually untraceable.

@taciaelisepeace It means that you receive fake calls from scammers who try to access your SSN to misuse it. You should be careful about such calls.

Yeah, I understand how boring is to take their calls when we don't need any loans. This reminds of an incident ..once we had a tele- marketing person calling to my husband's number. He was actually not interested in taking any loans, but he pretended as if he is in need of one. Funny thing was he gave false information to them : false name, and he mentioned he is not currently working and he requested for 20k as loan, which is substantially a less amount to give loan. His intention was to irritate them. Haha!! I was telling him that we shouldn't have done that. But he says - this is how we should get away from these calls ..

At least the bank provided a means to unsubscribe from the tele-marketing calls.
