I think I have mentioned this before, but I am going to mention it again because it frustrates me a lot. We have a sun room and it is nice to have plants in there during these bitter cold winter days. I had noticed some were looking bone dry, so I watered them. Well, of course, one of the plants (which has a nice bowl underneath it), had to over flow and water leak out all around it.I had to set towels around it. I was for sure that I was not putting too much water into it. But, I guess I flooded it accidentally. It frustrates me. When that happens , I always say out loud to myself, "I am just trying to keep the plant alive, what if I didn't water it? It would die".

I think sometimes when they get dry the soil just doesn't absorb right, you may need to re-pot that plant with some fresh soil.

I've had that happen too. I hope the plants thrive in the sun room.

You don't want to over water because that can damage some plants.

I was having that problem with some of the herbs I was growing. I had basil, oregano, and of course cat nip. The basil and oregano were doing pretty good, but for some reason the cat nip didn't look too good. I would water the little ingratiate, I'd feed it and it still wouldn't look too good. Then one day I was provided with the answer. Petey, my orange tabby, was going his afternoon naps in the pot of catnip. Talk about pleasant dreams! He had the biggest kitty smile on his face!!! He's going g to have to wait awhile for another catnip bed. My house burned down October second and everything in it and around it burned too. As for your plants, put a couple rocks for the pot to sit on in the bowl. With all then extra water sitting in the bottom of the bowl the plants are literally drowning. Putting the rocks in the bowl will give them a chance to drain completely and they'll look a touch better. What kind of plants are they?

That is funny about the cat, but I am so sad to read your house burned down. Thanks for the advice about the rocks. It is a Peace Lily.

ice cubs work great for indoor plants. as it melts it gives the soil a chance to absorb it, rather than just flow down and out of the pot with nutrients.
