That's my sister in laws kid watching television that close to a 52 inch Tv. We have warned him so many times don't sit that close to the tv its not good for the eyes. But he never listens to anyone, he was complaining of headache last month the dr had suggested an eye checkup. Hope he is not diagnosed for spectical at this age he is just 10. Anyways do you have kids with such habits who watch tv that close? Image Credit:- My Own

Do not worry, there is no evidence that watching the TV too close damages the eyes, both in children or adults. If he has headaches he possibly has an eye problem.

@nitirrbb7 It is because we stare at the monitor too many hours. Looking all the time as something at the same distance causes our eyes not to see well at other distances.

But Anaa, @creativeaashish said "I am the proof! I watched movies in the computer screen, the LCD monitor, and in a year I have to wear my glasses! If I hadn’t watched sitting so close, I shouldn’t be wearing my glasses now ! And to be clear none of any memeber in my house has to wear glasses like I do!"

@nitirrbb7 Probably not. The other day I saw a kid stuffing a corn flakes box into where we are suppose to put newspapers or recycling and I told him that does not go there and he got snotty and said it does. He was having a hard time getting it in that little slot. I told him it goes in the garbage. How sad it is that they do not want to learn. If they continue to sit in front of the TV so close then eventually they will probably have to get glasses.

@Hannihar Its actually the fault of the parents too, nowadays the young parents are so over caring that they don't understand that they are spoiling their kids.

awww that's too close.. very alarming, maybe your sister-in-law must visit a doctor for this kid, he might have an eye problem already that's why he wants closer. too much exposure to radiation is dangerous.

The only reason he should be that close is if he has problems seeing from afar.

From my vague memory, don't think any of my children or young relatives did that when they were little.

Yeah its a senario found in a few houses where there are no limitations to watching tv on children, that's just what I think.

It is really bad habit to watch TV so close. It decreases the power of eyes and damages them.

My grandchildren too have the habit of going very close to the tv and watching. I correct them the whole day but they just don't listen.

You cannot blame the kid...the kid will do what he has seen being permitted... This is where parenting comes in with a little strictness along with the explanation of why is it bad... My cousin's kids used to do the same but once we explained it to them with a little strictness, they stopped doing it..

@nitirrbb7 that is true... If the parents will not pay attention, why will the kid listen to anyone else

Exactly even I have spoken to his parents to take things strictly and stop falling for his cry. But it seems parents are the only ones who are responsible for the kids not behaving properly.

My parents wouldn't allow it, and we didn't allow it with our kids. Not good!

Good our parents dint allow it to and so did we to our kids, even the mother of this child faced the same problem when she was a kid. I think kids come with their parents habits genetically passed on.
