Shopping Cart Pet Peeves

1) People using them as their personal waste basket. They go into the store with food and drinks, then when they are back at their vehicle they leave the cart with their trash inside. It's a very unsanitary thing to do. Aside from the usual trash of bags full of fast food wrappers and drink cups, I've also come across a couple of soiled diapers and left over ice cream making the carts all sticky around the handle and child seat area.
2) I don't mind if you dont return the carts to their cart return area, but why are you going to be an a-hole about it and leave it in the way of anothers car. Blocking their drivers side door or leaving it behind another car. I've even seen a person just push their cart to the other side of the aisle only to have it hit another car, as the car was pulling out! (Adult language was exchanged and nothing more.)
3) There's a certain kind of male that does not use the handle to push the cart, instead, he grabs the cart from one of the front corners and pulls it behind him (These also tend to be the males who pull their wives/girlfriends by the hand, instead of walking side by side with them.) Bumping and knocking over things in the aisles as he walks through them. Many a times i've felt like giving them a lesson on how to properly use the cart in the store by "pushing" at the handle and not "pulling" it by the front corner.

people who park their carts so they block the whole aisle and resent others trying to get past them, kids who joyride round in the carts, (often dumping them in local rivers and canals), carts where you have to pay a deposit to get them out, carts with wonky wheels, carts simply abandoned at the check out so the customers behind get slowed down trying to get past them, etc

yes that is bad pushing it into other cars. but as far as the trash goes, better then just tossing it on the ground. you must have that job of bringing in the carts? sorry, people are just always telling me to leave the trash in it cause that is part of the persons job that brings them back. i did not know you wasn't supposed to. you will be thankful that i no longer get out to shop

I really just can not use what we call a shopping trolley if it has someone else's cast-off rubbish left in it. My other peeve is when you get a trolley that just will not go in the direction you are going.
Then there are the supermarkets where the aisle is too small for two trolleys to pass and the inevitable shop assistant who has a trolley full of stock they are putting out just where you want to see what is on the shelf and of course eventually you then get trolley gate where three trolleys meet and nobody seems to be able to be courteous enouh to let anyone pass.

I once had $1000 damage done to a car I owned many years ago, when someone apparently let their cart roll across the parking lot and into my car. It made me furious, but now I am very careful to make sure I put my carts away. I wish other people did the same!

@Plethos - I agree. I don't think some people realize how much damage a grocery cart can do when it is left unattended.

And let's not talk about the bacteria and germs thriving on the handle! How often do you think they get cleaned? Thousands and thousands of grubby hands leaving millions and trillions of queasiness behind. Ugh.

I agree with ALL three. I really hate to see people lay on the cart to drive them, so lazy they will not walk up right.

@Plethos This is a trick question. So how come you did not stop them because they bigger than me. Ah just kidding will always put people in their place if they are not respectful. To be honest seen it, but did not really follow to where it ended. None of my friends do that disrespectful stuff. Not on purpose anyway

I can agree with you on #1/#2. I have not noticed #3.
For #1 - I hate it when people leave trash left. I always get a different cart.
For #2 - I don't always put my cart back, especially if it's far/raining or whatever but then again, I don't use carts often either. When I do, my fiancé is usually with me and he pushes it back. I found out it's better to shop with a basket, you buy less and walking into stores like Target, everything is a want lol. But I will park the cart stable in the curb thing or something where it won't be in anyones way!

@Plethos hahaha but that’s their fault with the plastic bag bans so we have to bring it own bags unless we want to pay 10 cents per.
I see people do it all the time

I agree, fortunately I never seen dirty diapers (yuck!!!) but occasionally I'll find an empty wrapper or can in a cart. It is disgusting.

My! Did you wake up on the wrong side of your bed when you wrote this one, Plethos? (Somebody sounds grumpy!)
I understand where you're coming from with this one! I hate it when you go to get a cart in the line-up and it has all kinds of trash in it. (I won't clean it out, though. I push it to the side and get another one. I don't know where that stuff has been! And if they leave all that in the cart, where have their hands been? No Thanks!)

@Plethos Hmmm... in the middle of your bed or someone else's bed?
I sleep in a queen size bed. I sleep on one side and my two pc's, two tablets and my phone sleep on the other side. (Sometimes my main pc tries to hog part of my side, too! Selfish b*st*rd!)
