A PET THAT NEVER DIES - PERFECT FOR ME

One of the main reasons why I have always been hesitant to own a pet is because pets usually die before their owners. They are also prone to the same diseases as humans - and I hate seeing anyone suffer - including a dumb animal. That is why I am now thinking that Sony's latest Aibo robot dog will be the perfect pet for me. It was recently launched, is so adorable - and behaves like a real pooch. He even wears two small cameras which helps him recognize different family members. Other reasons why I would like my Aibo dog - is that I won't have to walk him, feed him or clean up after him. What do you think? Would you want an Aibo robot dog for a pet or as a companion for your pet?

No, it wouldn't suit me. Like Alfredo, I want a real live pet or nothing at all.

@Kandae11 It will be obsolete when you will have to replace it. They will sell you another robot pet that will not act the same way.

Indeed, but if we wish - the identical thing can be replaced.

@topffer No problem for me. What I am trying not to do is to become emotionally attached to any pet - therefore the robot will suit me just fine .

I don’t like dogs or cats hair all over my house. That is the main reason why I don’t want a dog or a cat. But this I wouldn’t mind in my house.

I don't think those who already have loving pets would be interested in this - the high price is also a deterrent.

I have always had pets and yes....pets dying is like someone is squeezing my heart. The robot might be fun for a bit...but we can't make real connections with it. So whenever I get a new dog....it will be real. P.S- Animals are not dumb.

@resukill22 It is a Sony product - and presently available only in Japan. When it gets to the U.S. and other countries the price would be about $1700 U.S.

No. The real dog has feelings and we can share ours with them, without being hurt. Aibo dog would be as good as my cell phone.

@Kandae11 That dog will not suddenly put its paws on my shoulders lick my face and run away to show sudden surge of affections, nor will it come near me when I am sad, understanding that I am not ok and try to snuggle as if saying I understand your feelings. The first action was from a naughty Labrador pup. Second action was from aged Alsatian. There is no substitute as far as I am concerned. I am willing to work hard for such honest and deep feelings.

@vandana7 Yes of course, we all have our own feelings about things. If we all shared the same feelings and likes - what a dull world it would be. And to be honest, I would truly hate having my face licked by a dog or a cat - like they say - "different strokes for different folks"

I don’t think the robot like a pet,it’s just like a joy. The pet we like them is mostly for the eye with emotion and it looks like so trust and dependent and faithful like a baby of you. This’s why I hesitant own a baby

Yes, that would suit me perfectly, since I have the same ideas about not wanting to own a live pet as you do. Also, if I didn't get an Aibo dog, just having a stuffed toy dog, cat or bear is another alternative.
