What kind of bread do you like?

Today, I only buy brown bread for sandwiches. My husband and sons prefer it too. I always thought it has more nutrients than white bread. One of my favorite brands of brown bread is "Sara Lee". When I was a child, my Mother always bought white bread. I have memories of her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches she would make for me and the Bologna and cheese sandwiches she would make with white bread. So, what do you prefer for sandwiches, white bread or brown bread?

I prefer white bread though I'm aware than brown bread is better for you. I don't eat much bread at all though.

@MALUSE I know it can be colored - they do it here too - that is why I buy only the reputable brands of bran or wheat bread. Most of the time I bake my own anyway - then I know exactly what is in it..

@MALUSE Interesting to know. I never thought about what makes it brown but I know about the yellow ones.

Brown bread has long been my favourite, but these days I tend to eat toast mainly so I buy white bread.

I like whole wheat bread for most things. Sometimes sour dough is good too. Depends on whether it is for a sandwich or toast.

Mom use to make homemade bread, of all kinds. When Mom got a job at an office, she started buying HillBilly bread, our Dad loved it! I have to eat gluten-free now and purchase a loaf of whole grain, usually.

We use to make bread with a bread machine. My brother in law only eats gluten free bread because he has crones disease (did I spell that right)?

@LeaPea2417 I'm not sure of the spelling, but I have Celiac Disease. It's pretty similar to Crones, the way it affects the person's digestive tract. I lost a lot of weight, not on purpose. I weighed in at ninety pounds at my doctor's office, fully clothed! She immediately sent me to a specialist. Now, I'm doing really good

@MALUSE Of course I know what pumpernickel is, its' popular here in Switzerland, I do not like the taste. We only eat white toasts with jam for breakfast, but to eat I make whole wheat bread. The problem of bad teeth in Italy is that almost nobody goes to the dentist every year to have them professionally cleaned. I go twice a year.

@MALUSE Here in Switzerland most elderly still have their teeth, you see when people have natural teeth. In Italy, from the age of 65/70 most people have fake teeth.

I don't eat tons of bread, but I do like good ol' soft white bread OR some of the multigrain that is filled with lots of seeds & STUFF..... i do NOT like wheat bread though. just find it bland and NOT soft....
