I feel called

Today I feel called to buy food and a bottle of drinking water to a homeless man sitting by the road side. He usually sits near a rubbish disposal. He often scavanges for food there. I've always wished to be able to cook him meal in the morning but haven't done so so far What's your suggestion?

Water is more important than food, good for you doing that.

Is it really true that water is more important than food?

That is heroic. I truly believe it. Any time you can pass on a bit of food and some clean water to a person like that you do the work of Jesus.

I am not sure if there is a local government agency that caters such needs to homeless. If there is, I think it is better to put him in such shelter.

@Shavkat No. I wish I had. If I were the person in authority I would provide such facilities to be sure.

@yanzalong Do you have such facilities for the homeless? It can be challenging for the local government to deal with such and they need to provide livelihood program for them.

That is very kind of you to give this man some food and water. I don't really have any suggestions as I don't know the situation there. For instance, would it be safe to cook him a meal?

It's quite safe. I mean I can cook my meal and give a little portion to him on my way to the office.

@yanzalong I was thinking it mightn't be a good idea to invite him into your home.

You are a good samaritan for providing him food and a drink. But I suggest that you look for a organization that provide services or work on issues related to homelessness. That organization will not only provide food and drink for him but also a shelter that he needs when sun becomes too hot and night becomes too cold for him.

The government is fully aware of it but nothing has been done.

@yanzalong How about the non-government organization in your country?

That was so nice of you, my only suggestion is do what you are doing when you can. It is helping out another human.

How sad to know that there are homeless in the streets in your country. The best is to put those people in shelters where they can receive hot food from volunteers.
