How will you respond to 'I love You'

I think these days we all hear these words a lot. Even if someone don't meant it, it says I love you.
Even I'm one of them who says I love you to others and smaller friendly gestures shown by them but I think it's quite normal and no one takes it much seriously.
What are your thoughts about it?

I think that the only one who says that to me now is my youngest grandson. He hugs me and says "I love you".

Do we need to respond I Love You? I have read a comic about this and its says like this:
Boy: i love you
Girl: hmmm
Boy: i said I love you
Girl: i heard you
Boy: what is your answer?
Girl: oh I thought its a question.

@thesupersingh If someone I know really well ( family member / best friend / love interest ) says it to me then I will say it back but if someone I don't know, hardly know, or feel weirded out by says it to me then I don't say anything because I don't feel the same and don't wish to say such a lie.
I actually take the "I love you" line extremely seriously. I don't like it being said to me if it's not true.

@VivaLaDani13 Truer words man! Coz the other person might take it too seriously and get hurt deeply when they discover the other didn't mean it. You never know! In fact, we shouldn't even promise stuff either if you aren't going to keep your word. If you make one and fail to fulfill it, apologise sincerely.
There was time when words were written contracts and handshakes were "done deal". Nowadays, people are so unreliable. They make promises off-handed way and forget the next moment.

Somehow i don't respond to it unless they really mean it because we weren't raised to be vocal abt love. But if i do love someone or if someone did something i really appreciate then i will say it with no hesitation.

In my opinion, "Love" has a vast definition and at the same time very subjective. It changes for everyone, it changes with every situation. It has different meanings at different times. Yet, one thing that remains is that it is only said when you have some sort of affection towards the person or thing, whatever, for which it is said.

I will say, I love you too. I know they mean it. And we need to tell and show people around us that we love them before it's too late.
