I like to try a variety of vegetables and fruits especially those that are considered weird looking. Some of the weird ones I have tried or attempted to try are:
1. Okra – actually I grew up eating okra. It was a staple in our home as a child so I still eat them and even grow them in the garden'
2. Kohlrabi – I grew these babies one year in my garden and cooked most of them. A great substitute for potatoes.
3. Dragon Fruit – This fruit has an odd exterior but some what bland taste on the inside with lots of seeds.
4. Star fruit – a tropical fruit I had a lot as a child and have it occasionally if and when I find it.
5. Durian – Attempted to try this one but couldn't get past the awful smell.
Have you tried any of these? What is the weirdest fruit or vegetable you ate?

I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food and I have only had okra in soups. Haven't had any of the others you listed but maybe one day I'll step out of the box and try some

That is different. I never heard of it so it would be weird for me.

@Freelanzer They are quite tart. We stewed some with a bit of sugar.

You haven't missed much as far as the dragon fruit and durian are concerned

My mom practically force fed us okras growing up, I didn't much care for it then but in my adult years I have developed a liking. It's also a Caribbean/South American thing.

Star fruit is the yellow one in the photo. I think it was known by a different name when I was young and we had a tree in the yard. It is also called Carombola. When you slice it looks like a star. Star apple is a favorite of mine but only found it once sine I became an adult. It is dark purple on the outside and round and there is also a star when it is sliced.

About star fruit, if I not mistaken, we call that in our country "balimbing". Balimbing is a Filipino slang for a traitor or a turncoat person.

I like okra pretty well, stewed or fried, but seldom have it. I think I have had Kohlrabi but did not care for it. The others I have not tried.

Yes I had the Kohlrabi once but wasn't overly excited about it.

I've enjoyed okra. Grown and eaten kohlrabi...we ate kale before it was a "thing".

I already ate okra, dragon fruit and star fruit. I haven't seen and eaten a Kohlrabi. I've never tried to ate a durian fruit because, like you, I couldn't also get past the awful smell. But I already ate a candy and ice cream made out of durian.
