Meeting that person for the first time can sometimes leave a lasting impression. People can try to hard when interacting with others socially for the first time. Maybe they just have annoying habits which will also leave a bad impression. So, my question for today is, what are some of those behaviors that turn you off? Photo- You Tube

If a person smells bad, is rude, loud mouthed or arrogant, drunk..... those things turn me right off.

I am not sure when I first meet someone if I like them and then may change my mind later on.

@Hannihar Yes Hanni, I think it can work both ways. Some people are nervous and quiet when meeting new people and may not act like themselves. Then overtime they open up more and are friendlier.

Sure, sometimes first impressions may not be lasting ones.

Loud and rude people don't make a good impression on me. It's hard to change my impression of a person once I have one too.

Loud people who are arrogant turn me off. You can also add "space invaders." Ones who are standing right in your face while talking.

My turn off are liars and you know they're obviously lying.. I know this guy who said he picked flowers for everyone from his yard but his Facebook photo showed vase of flowers ...... probably his moms or someone but he wanted to hand it out. plus they did not look like flowers from the yard anyway (roses)

@dgobucks226 Yep I am not a fan of liars trying to act like something above and beyond when it isn't & they're obviously caught!

Yes, I see what you mean. Someone who is a blowhard, who boast and exaggerates are definitely turnoffs. Especially when used to show off or impress others. Out right liars would definitely not make an impression

I also do not like loud talkers (who are not hearing impaired). You can also add "space invaders." Ones who are standing right in your face while talking.

Food falling from an open mouth is not a pretty picture. Gum is not a large object and one should be able to chew it without an open mouth, I agree,

Hmmm... spitting in public, farting in public, being a know-it-all and gossiping. Wow! You've been on myLot for nine months and have 228 discussions? (Now, I am feeling a little inadequate!Nope, I am kidding. Most people have written more discussions than I have.)

I know this sounds cliché but honestly be yourself; however, to answer your question, I hate it when you bring your A game and try to talk and make an effort to keep the ball rolling and there's that awkward silence from him. That's when you know it's no bueno...

I can understand that. A conversations is a two-way street. One has to show an interest in what the other is saying and add their opinions to a discussion. Silence is not always golden, lol.

Profanity! I am not saying that a bad word never slips out of my mouth, but I don't curse often, especially in public or when I first meet someone. I don't want to be guilty of that. I do get a bad impression of anyone who curses when I first encounter them. I think we've all been around folks who who use bad words in almost every sentence.

I hear you Diana! People who have no ability to put together a sentence without spicing it with swear words is definitely a turn off. It actually embarrasses me when I hear it.
