This is What We Got From the Storm

They promised snow. The model looked like it would snow. However, that's not what happened. The storm changed direction and went completely north.
What we did end up with were icy roads when the temps went down and the roads froze from all the rain we got. Now, it did snow, if you want to call it that. It didn't even coat the ground.
So, with slick roads, I didn't go to the pool this morning. Which is good news. My being proactive with the cold yesterday, kicked it to the curb and I'm good as new this morning. I'll be back in the pool tomorrow.
The picture shows the extent of the snow we got from the storm yesterday.
How is your day going? Thanks for reading.

Those who've moved here from colder regions and actually stay longer than 5 years get to the point where they love the sun so much they don't want to go back to the colder regions @marlina Our heat is not like that in Huston or Dallas, here it is dry as a bone when it's that hot.

It would have been less messier had it just snowed a lot.

Yes, it would have. I listened to the news report a couple nights ago and the man interviewed regarding salting the roads said it would be better to have ten inches of snow instead of all the ice they were dealing with a couple nights ago.

I guess a dusting of the stuff does constitute snow. LOL Doing okay here.Same weather just a little wind has been added.

Does a dusting really constitute snow? With the cooler temps today, it's still there. However, we're climbing to the high 40's by the weekend, so whatever snow is still around will be gone. I am really beginning to hate this winter. It's teasing me with a storm that never materializes.

No snow here in the upper 50`s.
My day is slow and I have posted a new blog this morning, cooking with Angie. Nothing much going on for the day.

Today it's in the 20's so the remaining untreated ice isn't melting. I'll take a look at that post.

@just4him Sounds very cold.... I'm in Tropical North Queensland Australia, and instead of nice hot sunshine days in time for good old Australia Day, we seem to be getting a battering of rain

@just4him I was disappointed in the choices. It seems your movie has to be dark and usually R rated to be nominated. I mean, goodness. Dunkirk was the only movie nominated for an Oscar that wasn't R. However, it was war related, and that's a popular theme. My dad hated it.

@AmbiePam Everybody I know loved Darkest Hour, so I'm sure it deserves the nominations and the Oscars it will get. I just wish the Academy would have been more favorable towards The Greatest Showman. It didn't deserve to be overlooked as it was.

Yes, it's a very good song. I hope it wins, since it's the only nomination the movie got. I was very disappointed by that. I saw Darkest Hour, which I haven't seen and everyone I know says it's wonderful, got most of the nominations.

So far, my day is going O.K. We got rain followed by snow, which is still coming down. It totals probably about two inches, total. This winter we haven't gotten as much snow, like other prior years. I think the temp. here is around 30 degrees, not that cold.

We're in the mid 20's today, so not cold here either. This is turning into a bad winter in my book. Winter has been a big tease. We get several inches at once and it looks like it will be a nice winter, and then it turns warm and it almost all disappears. Yes, I'm a grump about the loss of snow. We're going into the high 40's by the weekend, so whatever is out there will be gone this weekend.

@just4him We haven't gotten very much snow. Each storm we would get about 2-3 inches. Once we got 4 inches, which was tops. Most winters, we would get 10-12 inches in a day's time! It has been bitter cold at times, but not much of the white stuff.

@kobesbuddy I watch the weather station from out local station and I see we are well below the average snowfall for this time of year. I know we're in global warming and it shows more every year. If we don't start getting the snowfall we're used to getting, we might just end up in a drought situation one of these years. We need the snow cover so the crops will grow in summer, and we need it to keep the pipes from busting, something I just learned at the pool not too long ago. So I really hope we start getting some decent snow totals soon.

Is it colder when icy or when snow comes?

With it raining all day, as soon as the sun goes down, it gets colder and the rain freezes on the roads and becomes treacherous, which this did. It was unusually warm with the rain all day. It's usually colder when it snows. It doesn't snow usually above 32F or 0 C, though it can if the upper atmosphere is colder.

The ice on the roads is not my cup of tea. The snow dusting is rather hilarious. Right now we are awash with rain but not snow like last year. Loving it and plan to go to water exercises, too, in the morning if it does not freeze tonight.

It is hilarious isn't it. We were promised a snow and that's what we get from it. I hope you got to the pool for your water exercises and it didn't freeze last night.
