I Hate It When This Happens

In the middle of the night there were extremely noisy sounds. it woke both of us up. It sounded like the sky was falling. Thunder and lightning was so close it was scary. I looked at the clock and it was just 2 in the morning. I was thinking I would go out and get our paper off the driveway but he doesn't drive by our place until after 3.
I fell back to sleep and slept like a baby.
I was up before my husband so went out to get the paper. It was tied into a plastic bag but unfortunately it was laying in a huge puddle. Not something I wanted to see. I picked it up and could tell by the weight it was soaked in water. The bags if not tied tight enough, that happens.
I got some bath towels and covered my dining table and chairs. I opened the soggy paper and spread the paper on the towels. I threw away the sections we don't read (the ads) and when my husband got up it was with a sad sigh.
I told him by the time he gets home from the Y the paper will be readable so he left for his work out. I went to the computer and played here and other sites until the paper dried up..
By the time my husband got home we could both read the paper and the day was a good one...
Hope your day was a good one too

I would hate getting a book wet too, my books are all audio so I can listen while I paint.

@PainsOnSlate I've never worked out how people could read in the bath. I never had any luck with it. The steamy air made the paper funny.

I think the papers are brought to the people who deliver the paper and they have to but them in bags, a sealed bag would be good...

@PainsOnSlate - im sure a rubber band or twisty is faster, but a sealed bag is more convenient.

He throws the paper from his car so if he hits a puddle, life happens. It did dry and I enjoyed reading it.

Its winter here so the heat is on in the house, I just laid them out on tables and chairs and they dried. They would freeze under our sun.

You are picky @PainsOnSlate but I see your point.

yes, if we complained they would give us another later in the day. I want to read it with my coffee.

@PainsOnSlate I read the Swiss and Italian newspapers and I also have a look to the French and American news, it would be a lot of newspapers to buy.

We haven’t done that yet, although while here in the south, the hubs wants to see our paper on line daily.

It's funny how simple things can make or break our having a good day. Glad it was readable even though you had to wait a bit first.

The plastic bag usually works, it only fails when the driver tosses the bag into a big puddle.

I don't think we can even get the paper delivered at our house.

I though everyone had their paper delivered daily... I'm sure its available...or not. We are avid paper readers so we have always had the paper delivered.

I normally keep the wet paper next to our gas range and with that heat the paper dries up.

My delivery man double wraps the paper when it is raining and it has worked well so far!! I am glad you were able to dry it out.

Makes me kind of glad that we rarely ever have thunderstorms in western Oregon.

I slept through that thunderstorm....I was tired. Now we are getting some snow.
The flyer deliveryman throws our papers at the end of the drive. 50% of the time it ends up in the ditch...which is full of water. I think he needs to work on his aim.

Ours is good most of the time, we have one low space that turns into a large puddle, he doesn’t notice because he flys by and tosses it over the roof of his car...

Our driveway had one big puddle and because he's doing it at night if its raining, the paper is in the water about a half dozen times every year....
