I Started With Nothing....

Do you ever have the feeling that the more you try to make money the less it comes your way? I have just finished paying my bills and have found that my money is stretched to the breaking point. I don[t know why but I thought for sure that I would have a little bit left after paying everything. No such luck. Oh well, such is life. At least my bills are all paid and I still have a full refrigerator. We will be having a huge yard sale next month, hopefully that will bring more money in. I have many things I need to sale because of our recent downsizing. We can't fit everything in this house. I am glad we have this opportunity to really clean out all of the things we have been carting from house to house. A lot of these things I haven't even used or looked at in years. It time for them to go to a new home. Do you ever find things in your home and not even remember you had them? Then you know it's time to get a move on and clean them out. Hope everyone in myLotland is having a great day.

I keep thinking that I should declutter, but never get round to it.

You should make the effort so that you will have room for more clutter in the future.

It is hard when you are stretched so thin. I've been there. I hope the yard sale helps.

So do I. It should bring in a decent amount of money. We have furniture and all kinds of household items plus tools to sell.

I feel the same way. I've been trying to have a garage sale for 2 years but I need the help of my family members. I have piles of stuff downstairs to sell... or should I donate and hope I will be blessed in return? I need to get rid of the clutter but I also need money desperately.

@HazySue With my fibromyalgia there are only so many times I can walk up and down the stairs. I definitely need help.

@patgalca I know what you mean. Do they understand that it would bring money into the house that is needed?

I finally have the help of my husband and my sister-in-law. I will donate what we don't sell. A yard sale is hard work, you need more than one person to get it ready and to man it. I hope you can get them to join in and help.

@HazySue I agree with you. I also have a collection of large gardening and Impressionist art books that I plan to pack with me though they are heavy and cumbersome.

We don't live in an area where a garage sale would be worth the time we put into it. Hence why I do as much online as I can for the extra money for when things get tight.

If I tried to sell most of these items online the postage to ship them would be outrageous.

My house is littered with items that I have bought and only ever used once. I guess this is a common situation across the globe.

I think most people do tend to buy things and not use them. I know I am guilty of doing so.

@HazySue Items often seem more desirable and useful until we actually aquire them.

I now have not only my junk but my mothers to deal with. She passed away and I have been sorting through hers and others that I don['t know. It seems she let people use the storage building to store their things. I have no idea who they are so I suppose their stuff in my stuff.

I had that feeling today when I paid the last of my bills. Good idea to have a yard sale next month. I don't do those, I just take them to the thrift store.

I have taken an unbelievable amount of things to the thrift stores. Now I am left with some valuable and not so valuable things. I had an antique dealer stop over and look at what I have and they bought some of the furniture, glass wear and coins. I now am planning to sell things and what doesn't sell will be donated..

@HazySue I'm a bit loath to have one here as we are a bit isolated and I don't want all and sundry knowing where we live. It might tempt bad elements to come fossicking around when we're not home.

@JudyEv I can understand your feelings. If was out in an area that was sparsely populated I would not have a garage sale either.

We used money we shouldn't have to pay bills in two houses. Now that we are selling one it should become much easier to make it through the month and might even leave us with money left over
