Weight Loss By Eating healthy

In the past year, I have literally had the pounds melt away by eating healthy and supporting healthy lifestyle changes. I went from a size 14/18 down to a size 3. I feel better, have more energy, and hurt less. I avoid dairy, white bread, pasta and sugar. When the weather allows it I go on walks. I try and stay active as much as possible. One thing I do for exercise when I can't get out is put on music and dance. Something I love to do. Are you trying to lose weight or adapting a healthier diet or lifestyle?

I do not need to lose weight, I walk every day and I eat healthy from many years. I was born in Italy, I always had a "Mediterranean Diet", plenty of fruits and vegetables, very little sugar and pasta only once in a while.

I do like the Mediterranean diet. When I was seeking a healthier diet, that was the one that seems to be a good one.

@LadyDuck I am not a big meat eater myself. I have never been. Cutting back meats was an easy choice for me.

@rusty2rusty We eat very little red meat, this is a habit since we were kids. We prefer fish, shellfish, vegetables and fruits and white meats, like chicken.

After following a healthy eating lifestyle for the past 14 years, I do not need to lose weight. However I am now thinking of starting on a raw food diet - but I would not want to lose any more weight , that would be my main concern.

@andriaperry Yeah, it is harder to do when traveling. You do have to think ahead and be prepared. I learned to take a cooler along. That way I could pack healthy options as snacks. Plus, the cooler allowed me to stop at any local grocery store and get local produce when needed.

I tired that for a while, I liked it but it was hard when I was traveling.

That's terrific! I have made some changes and lost 25 pounds. I feel so much better about myself! I cut sugar, and of course most white flour since bread and pasta basically turn into sugar.

Congratulations!! You look great! I have a serious sugar addiction that I am battling. I have gotten to the point where it is painful to walk--I am not morbidly obese like those people you see on TV but I have a small frame that wasn't meant to carry this much weight. I have cut out most sugar this week and bought vegetables and chicken and low-sugar accompaniments. My favorite sauce with Chinese stir-fry proved to have a lot of sugar so I'm using an alternative. It's hard to tell if I feel better or not since I've had bronchitis for 2 weeks but I have lost a couple of pounds and I'm not as moody or depressed. Once I lost about 20 pounds I know I'll feel better and can walk to the fitness center at my new apartment complex to begin building some muscle and toning up. I might cut out dairy depending on how I do but I love cheese and yogurt as much as I love chocolate so that's a last resort!

I had a sugar addiction too. Till I woke up one morning and couldn't see. I learned I was a type 2 diabetic. I control my sugar levels by what I eat and taking a pill after dinner each night. I no longer have that sugar addiction. I think the sugar was the hardest part to give up and change in my diet.

Healthy eating in combination with some regular exercise is the best diet and the only one which really works without any side effects.

Thank you, it was a lot of hard work and determination. Plus, the last time I saw the doc, he said to lose weight or I would have to start taking insulin. I hate needles and so it was an easy choice. If I want to live, I needed to follow the doctor's orders. Hopefully, I can reverse it.

@shaggin I watched my grandmother and my niece's grandmother be insulin dependent. I never liked seeing that. I hate needles. So it was an easy choice to make.

That's a ton of weight! Congrats! I hope you're able to stick with it, that's the hard part. I noticed a few weeks ago that my clothes were getting tighter and I'm not fitting into them as well, so I started drinking more water and trying to eat healthier. I am noticing a slight difference.

I am sticking with it. It is hard since the weather has decided to cover the ground with snow. That's why I started dancing around the house while I do my chores and stuff. That way I am always doing something to be active when I cant get out.

I have been adapting too. I cut out sugar, junk food, fast food, and most carbs. I have cut down tremendouslyon pasta. I drink more water and green tea and back to exercising every day, I've noticed some changes but its only been a couple months. Glad to see that you are having some positive changes!

Your starting to see the changes, that's a plus. It's a great start. The pounds came off slowly at first. Now I am told by my family I am to thin. But they all have weight gain. I'm the skinny one.

@rusty2rusty Thats what I heard that the pounds fall off slowly in the beginning as your body adjusts to the changes in diet and activity. I haven't seen the scale to down as much. But having more energy and being able to fit clothes comfortably must count for something! Thats awesome that others in your family are noticing. Good job on sticking to a healthier lifestyle.

My sister is the same way. I am currently trying to loose weight. It's not coming off as it did before. I couldn't believe when I weighed in at 170 lbs at the doctor's office earlier this month.

Thankfully I have normal weight and I am active physically a day with lots of activities. I even need to walk while going to work and back. As far as I am working I don't think I may gain weight. Glad to know that you are determined to maintain the weight.

Thank you, I think it has a positive effect on my teens as well. As my son has lost some weight. As he has been walking back and forth to work. Unless he can catch a ride. My daughter has lost weight as well.

The sugar was the hardest to stop. It was really like an addiction. I had withdrawals from it. Headaches and such. But once I gave it up, I stick with it.
