6 years ago I was diagnosed with Cervical cancer. It was one of the scariest times of my life. I just wanted to post to catch everyones attention on how it is so important to get checked regularly.
In 2010, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy. For months I was feeling great, and was full of energy!
One evening I had something I thought was a infection or some sort , and figured I would go to the hospital after work the next day.
I went to work the following morning, and it was a very slow day. I honestly didn't want to be there , so I had asked to go home. I said I was going to hospital because I wasn't feeling good, but was just tired and wanted a prescription for the infection.
I got dropped off and that was the one of the worst hours of my life.
When I got there to take the test, had a quick check up, and had doctor after doctor coming in to check on me.
I got told it was something never seen before, and I had to be in a specialists office 2 hours away by the next afternoon. When I arrived there, I was than told by the specialists, they may be able to fix it now but we needed surgery right away. We were both going to the hospital.
I got put under for a couple hours. When I awoken, I had received news that she couldn't remove and I had to go ten hours away to see another specialist 2 days later.
When I arrived there ,I had straight out asked the doctor, "have you seen this before ?" the doctor there had said he had seen it before and said I was going to lose my hair. Yeah that's right. This Is how I found out. I had to have surgery with him, but do chemo 2 hours away from home .
I had done chemo, radiation, and surgery a year of my life to get rid of this nasty Cancer. I found out with my doctor that worked on me , there was only ever 3 cases in this world like mine , and I was one of them . She had to compare their charts and make a solution for me !
I had a check up today, and I believe still cancerless :) I had it within a couple months, and it was very aggressive. It is so important to get checked when you don't feel right! I have been dying to spread some of my story, hoping others don't hesitate to get checked up when needed to.
What made my cancer so rare, instead of growing up in me, It was starting to grow out. I am lucky I had a symptom, as many people don't have the symptoms I had.

You're lucky you detected it at an early stage. God is indeed good all the time. =)

That is really scary. I am happy to hear you are cancer free now.
Prior to your cervical cancer, did you do yearly PAP smear screening and have the HPV vaccine?

@Michelle I had a pap a few months prior when my son was born, and Everything was a ok . Usually did regular. In Canada, they want girls to go every few years. That may be just too long I believe .

@LovableSarah oh I see, glad you are okay now and it was caught early on.
The doctors here recommend every few years if you’re in the clear, but regardless I do my pap every year because the insurance still covers it yearly so I take precacution. I also have the HPV (3 shots) several years back.

@infatuatedbby Very happy to hear you do it yearly. I believe I read it was suggested every two years. I think that may just be too long :(

Gosh, what a terrible ordeal for you to have to deal with, especially being a young mum. Great news to hear that you are cancer free. Many don't make it, so you are lucky in that respect. I know they are now giving young girls a vaccine against HPV, which they believe is the cause of most cervical cancers. Other than that there seems to have been little advancement against this evil disease.
I hope you are now able to enjoy life again and it's great to see you posting on here.
