Good afternoon from London

London, England
February 13, 2018 9:16am CST
This morning I got up and went to the gym. I then went to pray at St Anthony's church. I am now back home with the kids and my daughter has a singing lesson in the next hour. Next week I am starting a full time job and I am bit nervous about getting tasks done efficiently in my new job. I am also mainly worried about interacting with new people. I find it quite difficult to be friendly with anyone except my husband, family and close friends. How do you find working in groups?

I had no difficulties in making friends in a new country. I am pretty shy, but friendly.

@Angela150 It's not always easy in a country that is not your country.

Yes it is very difficult. Most people have lost their social skills these days.

For me being an extrovert, new situations are easy for me @Angela150 . In your case though, being an introvert, you can still be friendly with a , "Hi, how are you?" And then just see what their responses are. Not to mention 'watching' how the others interact with each other can give you an idea of 'whom' to get to know better. Focus more on the job at hand until you get comfortable with your surroundings.

I know but I don't want to watch people too much either, it may scare them! I will focus more on the job at hand like you said.

The first days on a new job are difficult, but you need to be open to what you will learn and the people you meet. You never know when you're going to meet your next best friend.

@Angela150 It can be. You must be open to it. Remember - Every stranger is a potential friend.

Well, I wish you the best of luck in your new job. When I lived in the state I found that I was lucky to have great coworkers who always made working fun. I have worked several times here in Latvia but people are different here and my work experiences were not the best. Now I just work at home.

You can be nice but there is no need to be overly friendly in a working environment. I hope everything goes well for you.

@Angela150 Depending on the type of job you are doing - too quiet might not work. When I was in high school and college I was always the last to speak up - that had to change fast when I became a reporter.
