Essentials for Traveling

I always want to travel and to explore places that I haven't been to. I have met quite a number of fellow travelers who have been to various places all over the globe and have learned a lot of things from them. Travelers oftentimes share tips and pieces of advice as to what stuff are needed to be brought along. Some things that are not needed must be left at home, otherwise, you'll end up bringing heavy loads of bags with unnecessary things. Essential stuff that are needed are the basic ones such as money (very important) your travel documents (passports and visas), toiletries such as shampoos, bath soaps, etc. For ladies, it would be more convenient to transfer your lotions and other liquid beauty products to smaller containers so as not to have problems with airport security check. Also, one must not forget to bring jackets for cold weather, light clothes for warm weather, some medicines for medical emergency. Digital gadgets such as cellphone. You can leave your DSLR camera or laptop at home if your cellphone can take photos and connect to the internet. What other stuff do you think you can and cannot travel without? Share your thoughts.

@galileo2008 And cash money in currency of country where you are going. Some places don't accept credit cards like fast food.

Whenever I travel I bring the essentials. Skincare, I can't live without, but all are in travel sizes. I don't bring towels, as the holes and restores I'm usually in provide those including robes and slippers. I only have my iPhone with me, charger, and power bank. And I only bring clothes that are needed for each day. I usually check first what the travelling is for. When it's business, it's different. When it's leisure, it depends on where I'm going like is it an island, or a beautiful city in another country.

I agree with leaving the digital camera at home. My cell phone takes decent photos. I think a spare charged cell phone battery is a good idea. I am a big reader so I also bring a bunch of books typically.

You have to know the weather of your destination first before coming up with the essentials to make sure you brought the things that you really need. You should not forget your travel documents, charger, phone, some cash and debit card. You have to choose lighter materials over heavy ones to avoid excess baggages in the airports which may cause delays. You have to wear comfortable clothings and shoes preferably in dark colors just in case you have messy spills.

It's a good idea to take a basic first aid kit - some antiseptic cream, tweezers, bandaids, aloe vera cream for stings or bites; also sunblock if you are going to be in the sun. Also a good idea to take a small sewing kit - scissors, thread, some spare buttons. Just be sure you pack both of these in your checked luggage so that you don't have a problem with security.
