Hello, dear mylot friends! Today is the Spring Festival in China. On the spring festival day, people in many areas choose to eat dumplings, especially in northern China. Chinese dumplings can be roughly divided into three different kinds: dumplings, steamed dumplings and fried dumplings. Have you ever eaten Chinese dumplings? Do people in your country eat dumplings?

What we call dumplings in England are nothing like Chinese dumplings. Ours are made from flour, lard and baking powder with a little salt and, often, some herbs mixed in. They are cooked on the top of a casserole or meat stew and eaten with it.
I have eaten Chinese dumplings once and quite enjoyed them. I forget what they were filled with now. I believe that in Russia and Eastern Europe there is a similar thing called pierogi. They are usually cooked by boiling in water. Some people claim that the idea for these was brought back by early travellers to China.

Maybe the dumplings in China are really different from those in your country. But I believe that both of them are delicious.
I don't know much about the origin of dumplings. I just know that most Chinese people like to eat them.

In my country they are called pelmeni. They can be eaten with vinegar or sour cream. I love them. Usually I eat them with sour cream and the water they were boiled in. Sometimes, I fry them but not after boiling. I fry them frozen.
