When my van decided not to work a couple of weeks ago, we thought it could be fixed with minor service. Not so.
It is getting a newly rebuilt transmission. Sid our mechanic will put it in.
Hubby is on his way to take the van, which does run and drive to Sid.
I must go follow him and bring him home later.
I guess we will eat somewhere.
I will answer all my notifications later.
Have a great evening all.

Regular shops charge $80 per hour. Sid does this on the side and charges $20 an hour. Costly but more reasonable. He is good and he is honest, too.

Transmissions are a big pain when they need to be replaced.

Very costly, but otherwise this vehicle runs terrificly, so we are getting it fixed.

They say "car trouble" is redundant, because if you have a car, you have trouble...sooner or later. Hope everything goes okay and it's back to new soon!

Our plan is to have it ready before our trip to Minnesota.

We do have spares for getting around, but this is our "work horse" for pulling a trailer, etc.

I hope that you can get the van fixed without going to the poorhouse.

It would cost more to replace it, and then we would not be sure what we were getting.

If you are fortunate, it will just need a filter and fluid change. We also had some other parts replaced. Get it seen sooner, rather than later and find a mechanic you can trust.

A new car would cost more. I think we should be fine.

Knowing the mechanic who fixes the car in itself is a good thing as you know they will do a really good job and only charge what there is to charge.
Enjoy your meal together on going out.
