What music turns you on and what turns you off

I’ve read a lot of discussions from a mylot member here writing on his beloved taste of music, especially music from the 60s and the 70s. I’d like to comment on that. I grew up in an age where funk was the popular type of music. I don’t remember hearing it around anymore. Now, I prefer to listen to hip-hop and blues.
Hip-hop brings out the poetic nature in me and blues makes me sentimental, an escape from the harsh realities of this hard world.
But I don’t like pop; neither do I like rock music. I don’t want a debate or argument here but that is how I see it. My dad likes pop. He has a lot of the Michael Jackson records and that got me interested in it for some time but soon I lost interest.
I wonder what are your music tastes and moods?
If you catch me dancing to any music, it would probably be hip-hop or blues, although blues doesn’t have much to dance to.
So, let the count begin. I would like to see what music mylotters listen to and how it makes them feel.

I love all music, especially rock music. I don't like most modern country. I like old country it is fun, but not the new stuff. But I am a total rocker and alternative person. I don't like dry rap, anything that is just spewing nonsense and has no real meaning to it.

@DesirousDreamer That is why you have to be choosy before listening to one. Listen to a music on the radio before you decide to get the CD or DVD. That's what I do. It's sad that some people take a fine music genre and use it to advance their violent agenda. But it happens in other genres of music.

@mydanods I will listen to anything and try anything for music. I don't like judging music, it is like people thinking I am a devil child for the music I listen to or my black clothing. They judge way too quickly and that isn't good

@mydanods Yes, it is really hard to understand. I read a few lyrics and I had to realize that the words I thought I understood are not the same that is written in the lyrics.

I enjoy 60's and 70's music best. Classic rock, Motown, Pop, and Country-rock are some of my favorites.

I generally listen to just about everything but country music. My dad listened to it so much when I was a kid I don’t like it anymore. But, if I had to choose I’d listen to r&b mostly and least of all rock . I like the story r&b music tells. However, mostly only like the beat rock music gives.
