I was up with Orville the Osprey at the crack of dawn today and managed a brisk 12 mile walk on this beautiful morning. I passed on brunch with friends, because we have an Academy Awards cocktail/buffet to go to this evening. I like to keep an eye on my weight and all this eating in Florida can get out of hand very quickly. Our younger son texted me this photo of a toilet paper rose I made for him when he bought his very first brand new home 8 years ago. It's a bit worse looking than it should look. He saved it for all these years! If I had known, I would have made more for him. He left it for the new owners! Today he will look at new homes on the market. Our cleaning lady makes a variety of pretty decorative designs on toilet paper in each of our bathrooms. I don't bother unless I'm having guests. Do you? Do you call it toilet paper, bathroom tissue, or toilet tissue?

It is cute, but I also would not bother unless I have guests. The translation from my native language is "toilet paper".

@DianneN It's paper also in French as it is in German. I do not know why it is sold as bathroom tissue. We have "facial tissues".

That is adorable he saved it all these years and left it for the new owners! A 12 mile walk is amazing! Longest I did was 19 miles one day.

@DianneN nope lol my kids were in school and I wanted to walk an old railroad trail here. I got 9 miles to where the one part came out to a road and then turned around and walked the road home. No cell service so when I got tired around 12 miles there was nothing to do but keep going.

We call it toilet paper and and that's really nice of your cleaning lady to mach such decoration. I really don't bother as they have to undo the decoration anyway when they're using it.

@DianneN I get allergic reaction to scents I'm not really used to so no scents at all in my bathroom. Just the mild ones from my toiletries.

@toniganzon I love scents and wear perfume every day, but have to only use a drop. So many people are allergic to scents, and I don't want to cause problems.

Most people seem to call it toilet paper.. I keep a decorated roll in a pretty container in two of our bathrooms which guests use. The ones on the roll get ruined after the first use. You're right! Ha ha! I think the cleaning lady likes to leave the house with special touches. She even sprays scents around, but I asked her not to, because I love the fresh clean scent instead.

@DianneN - How adorable! I have never made anything like that, nor has my housekeeper. However, I love the effect. Perhaps the next time we have guests I will give it a try!

@DianneN - Ha ha! Yes, it could get expensive if she spent a lot of time making flowers out of your bathroom tissue! LOL

Twelve miles. Now that's a hike. I wish your son luck at looking for a house. I'm not doing well in that department.

@DianneN So far we have found buying a house to be the same as being dumped into a pool of sharks. We are not millionaires so that is a good deal of it. And we don't want to live in a dump. Two houses bid on and two eaten and the prices driven up beyond their value. Sharks.

@sallypup Yes, that happens. Not good for the buyer, but good for the seller. Our older son had that happen when he sold his first co-op in Manhattan. Someone wanted his place so badly they offered him much higher than his fair market asking price.I hope things work out for the best for you.

It was a hike, but it was nice and cool this morning at 60 degrees. Thank you. The kids are in no hurry to buy. They don't want to rush out to by any house only to be unhappy with it a month later and move all over again. They know they want and don't want in a house. The market is beginning to open up this time of year. Perhaps you can do what he's doing. His agent gives him a heads up before some of the houses are listed for the public.

What a sweet rose! Your son's heart was surely touched by this act of love, from his very special Mom:) I call it toilet paper, because since marrying Jay, he always refers to kleenex as a facial tissue.

I must have a pedometer to check how many steps I take during the day doing so many rounds in my garden but I know they will not be 12 miles. I wonder why your son did not take that roll with him
