Harvest time!

My balcony snow peas have enjoyed the rain, and I just harvested several for my late afternoon Kun Pao Chicken. I'll do a lunch/dinner post later. For now, I just wanted to share that, in a temperate climate, even if it sometimes freezes at night, snow peas will prosper. I also have some cherry tomatoes that are doing quite well. I didn't know that they could survive in temperatures this cold. Do you have anything growing right now? Any surprises?

I enjoy seeing happy peas. I become emotionally attached to them. I care for their well-being. Then I eat them.

Sweet photo!!!! We've had a mild winter all year but now that Spring is heading in, its colder at night. NO. I have not planted peas let alone them being so gigantic as yours. Congrats!. Cherry tomatoes will be planted maybe 3 to 4 months from now.

@TheHorse For my area, peas and greens like spinach and lettuce and chard are Spring vegies. Tomatoes and peppers are summer things in the garden.

Oh, that's late. They do like hotter weather, though, don't they?

@sallypup Yep, I find that peas like cooler weather, while beans, corn and tomatoes prefer warmer weather. I've never done spinach.

That is awesome, I love snow peas! I wish I was growing something, but I am pretty sure my house is cursed because many things die even if we take care of it really well.

@TheHorse Nope, I have a patio, but things sometimes get too much sun and then burn. Which has what happened to my plants before.

It's still much too cold here for garden plants, but I saw that the rhubarb is starting to come up. The weather has been up and down a lot this year so I hope it doesn't get too cold for it. Some cherry tomatoes are pretty hardy!

@TheHorse That's pretty good! I usually grow them on the patio where they are more protected and that helps for this climate. I love cherry tomatoes.

They have minds of their own! The kids and I grew some in Oakland, planted in the Spring, and they were still yielding in January and February.

No surprises - just capsicums and butternuts here. Oh and some honeydew melons but they seem to be going rotten before I get them picked.

Nice! I can't grow anything outside but my mountain of snow. But I am growing some galic inside and every so often I can cut a leaf and enjoy it.
