I don't mind if someone that isn't close to me calls me his or her friend. I would be bother if he or she calls me an enemy instead when I do not even know him. lol

It is not a trend , but that is what we have been taught from the childhood that calling others as friend is a mark of respect @neha211985 ! I had a discussion where the points about this were discussed in details just a few days back! I am responding this because, I normally address the members as dear friends and most of the members said that they won't mind me calling them as friends...! Thanks!

Thanks a lot dear friend @joseprince123....we after all are human beings and coming on a common platform here to discuss our happy moments and sad moments. when we can share our emotions and views then what is the problem in calling one as a friend? God bless!

"Friend" is a very loosely used term. Acquaintances at best is more like it.

Well, people will know themselves if they are really friends or not. What got you so mad all of a sudden? It's your opinion and maybe I share the same sentiment.

OH I do. Even here in mylot when people who hardly know me would address me as friend, that annoys me. But I don't tell them coz I think that would offend them. I also get annoyed when people call me dear.

A friend is someone who's there for you, at all times during your life. There are very few, who are willing to do this for someone else.

Not really, You don't know their intentions. some of them wants to be your friend even if you both not, or others is just pretending though.

No. Announcing it publicly makes me a bit proud of myself for having someone who isn't ashamed of me and the friendship. I find it flattering, really.

I don’t believe it’s a trend . More so certain people would like to have as many people in their “circle” as possible in fear of losing people in their lives . I believe some people have abandonment issues & try to compensate for that with creating a large circle in order to fill the void. But it can get somewhat bothersome .
