Someone asked why do I have the elderly come to my house to eat. I responded, why not? I am thankful for my life. Yes, like everyone else I have challenges. But regardless, how difficult my life is, others have truly unsurmountable struggles. Or even, an immense amount of loneliness. I like to laugh and I like making other people laugh. Even, if it is at my own expense. If I just get people to smile or whole heartedly laugh, it makes my day! I've always done something to give back to the community. I've been a chair/committee member of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life for 20 years. I've donated blood since it was a teenager, I've cooked and delivered food to the homeless and I have been a big sister for the Big Brother and Big Sister organization and there is more, those are just the major ones. Although, people can't always give money to help, chances are they can give something even if it is just time and or blood. Right, now I offer my companionship, my time and a home cooked meal to those who have no one else.....at least for now. When one is lonely, the colder seasons make it just that much lonelier.
