Someone asked why do I have the elderly come to my house to eat.
I responded, why not?
I am thankful for my life. Yes, like everyone else I have challenges. But regardless, how difficult my life is, others have truly unsurmountable struggles. Or even, an immense amount of loneliness.
I like to laugh and I like making other people laugh. Even, if it is at my own expense. If I just get people to smile or whole heartedly laugh, it makes my day!
I've always done something to give back to the community.
I've been a chair/committee member of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life for 20 years. I've donated blood since it was a teenager, I've cooked and delivered food to the homeless and I have been a big sister for the Big Brother and Big Sister organization and there is more, those are just the major ones.
Although, people can't always give money to help, chances are they can give something even if it is just time and or blood.
Right, now I offer my companionship, my time and a home cooked meal to those who have no one else.....at least for now.
When one is lonely, the colder seasons make it just that much lonelier.
I love seeing their faces light up just because I said hello and gave them a hug.
Random Act of Senseless Kindness by South Sixty Five is one of my favorite songs. If you haven't heard it, YouTube it.

True happiness is helping other persons when they need our services since none of us are islands.

Thank you in the name of all those who have been near you. Fortunately, I have always had loving people near me in times of sorrow. I don´t know what would have become of me if I hadn´t had them. What you are doing is lovely. The world is better for people like you.

So nice to see someone with respect for the elderly, a quality which seems to be getting rarer in the western world.

Helping others soothes the soul and it brings comfort to those who need the help. I salute you for the help you give others in your own small way. Others are not that compassionate. A little help goes a long way.
