The best way to save money during the holidays is to create a budget and stick to it. If you have kids, then you need to ensure that you buy them toys that provides hours of engagement and you don't waste money on gifts that are only played with for one hour. These toys are a waste of money if they aren't engaging.

We don't observe Christmas anymore but when we did, I started shopping at the after Christmas sales and when something my kids wanted went on sale in March I bought it and hid it. It was great to find things I knew my kids would want for a fraction of the normal cost. Yes, the kids had to wait months to get it but they survived and our pocketbook was a lot fatter for it! Another thing we did was buy the holiday food items ahead of time, a little here and a little there, and only when they were on sale. We saved quite a bit of money that way. Be creative and start planning ahead and you'll be able to save quite a bit of money.

if it is buying gifts, go to like the dollar stores for things for very little.
