Our little Ice Princess is wearing her new boots, new blades, and new costume in this photo taken in Lake Placid, New York, during the start of this year's competition. She placed very well at second place.
However, one of her coaches checked her new boots during practice and noticed they broke down. Apparently, they weren't made for multiple jumps.
Technically, she is an excellent skater. After her skate in her old boots, her group of five coaches moved her from Pre-Preliminary to Preliminary. With her new boots, they moved her into Pre-Juvenile and are considering placing her in Juvenile.
The next steps will be Intermediate, Novice, Junior, and Senior levels. She has covered a lot of ground, I mean ice, but has more to go. I'm still trying to figure it all out, but she's actually doing it.
You should see that little girl fly over the ice!

Thanks so much. If you PM me your email, I can send you her performance.
She outgrew her old skate and recently bought high quality professional boots. Apparently they weren't stiff enough to handle all the jumps. What a waste of money!!!

@DianneN Skates to a skater are very important as anything wrong with the skates can be a disaster.
Obviously, she was able to compensate. A true professional!

@1hopefulman Her parents bought her the skates Gracie Gold wears. The really good skaters wear very stiff boots. Now she won't have to struggle as much to land on the correct side of the blade. Thanks, she did compensate, but it wasn't fair to her. I'm just thankful she didn't hurt herself. You are so kind. Thanks again, Felix!!!

I wanted to be a figure skater but didn't have such opportunity when I was young. It was only a few years ago that we joined the Winter Olympics but only for figure skiing and that kid was trained in another country and not here.

@DianneN There are only I think one or two ice rinks in the country here and id doubt if they're ideal for the training coz it gets too crowded with people who just want to be there for fun. I know they would sometimes offer summer classes for young kids.

@toniganzon Even here, Toni, there are times for the public to use the rinks, time for ice practice, ice skating lessons, and times for competitions. The competition rink is only allowed for competitions. Each venue has its own policy. I'm too afraid to get on skates anymore. I know I'd break something instantly!

The USA gets lots of kids from other countries to train here. Actually, the venue where my little granddaughter trains sent 10 people, several from foreign countries, to the Olympics as ice dancers. I see so many ice rinks here in Florida now.

She is gorgeous and I am sure she makes you proud. It is a shame that those new boots were not made to keep up with her.

@DianneN ohh I was quite confused how it could only be used for one jump I thought it might be a term for one competition or something. I wish my kids did have an interest in a sport but after hearing all that cost I'm glad my kids are klutzy like their mom

Lol! The boots weren't for one jump only, but for jumps in daily practices and competitions. Those darn skate boots shouldn't have been sold to her. Who knew? At least she has good, stiff boots now. The boots cost more than the costume and the blades are a whole other issue. I'm not even including the cost of five coaches, ice time, hotel and transportation for them and a coach, lessons, or warm up clothes. My son is ripping his hair out. Forget about my grandson's ice hockey. I'm glad my kids took up normal sports.

Several 'gradings' there I see. Each time she gets promoted she must be aiming for the next one which for you and me may seem easy. But only she knows how to get there Good Luck with her efforts. .

@DianneN - I understand. Sometimes it is very upsetting to realize your children or grandchildren have a problem, not with their skills, but with their technology or equipment, which makes things even more difficult for them. I guess those types of problems help build character!
