Your Actual Voice

Have you heard your voice on a recording or musical tape recently? I recall hearing mine. It is more nasally than I had every suspected it would be. Sort of startled me. Have you heard yours? Doesn't sound differently than you thought it would?

When I sing, I get up close to the microphone. The "proximity effect" makes your voice sound deeper and fuller, not nasal. But I still ask for "effects," as I get tired of my own voice. Have you heard my YouTube videos? I'll attach one that has some effects on it.

I prefer Sometimes, and Take Me Back to Tulsa, and of course The Last Train to Poor Valley. A Moth Song is ...touching. Pancho & Lefty is popular funny. LOL. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIvRrumbwjo Moth song has really really grown on me...kind of. It took me a while to understand your accent. Now I understand it better.

@vandana7 That (Moth Song) was before we realized it would be helpful to have lyrics with the songs. I still think it's a good idea.

I was a radio presenter so often heard my voice in playbacks and jingles - much deeper and flatter than it sounds to me when just speaking - it makes me cringe

I've heard radio announcers sound different depending on what microphone they're using.

The first time I heard my voice in a recording was back when I was in high school because of an English project we had. I wasn't able to recognise my voice at all as it sounded so different.
