Windows 10 & Its Forced Updates

Has anyone encountered the latest enforced updates from Windows 10 yet? (Don't restart your laptop if you could help it. I got the latest Windows 10 updates that way!)
The latest update alas, is a bit nasty. It seemed to take over the control of my laptop completely, as in, it gave itself the ability to hijack my laptop 99.9%. Within half an hour, my laptop was updated again (only because I wanted to shut it down).
As many windows 10 users, I had changed a few things here and there to stop those automatic updates from Windows. They had worked in the past until several hours ago.
I have temporarily fought back this time but if this keeps going on, guess I should say goodbye to Windows for good. Any advice for my future MacBook purchase?
(Or I could begin a relationship with Linux .)

Windows 10 is definitely the most annoying program in the universe. Like you, I have contemplated Mac or Linux. The problem is, many of the programs I use regularly only work with Windows. Honestly, sometimes I think I would like to meet Bill Gates face to face just so I could tell him exactly what I think of his stupid program.

I would love to join you. Bet you the queue is very long. You should see how many people got upset for the last few years re: Windows 10 and its aggressive updates. The latest one is extremely bad. Windows users have begun to compare Windows 10 to virus.

Advice for MacBook purchases? Yes, don't beat up on yourself for waiting so long to get one.

@YrNemo — three times the cost at the store; however, you do have to buy word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (or “lease it” from Microsoft) because it’s including the price. That automatically lowers the total price.

@FourWalls You are an Apple user? One of my kids goes for only Apple products (but no MacBook for him yet). One has to do what one has to do I guess if this harassment from Windows going on with time.

I have begun to check the pricing and compare the pros and cons of some MacBooks. Even at 3 times the cost, so what if I could have some peace of mind. Perhaps Windows will send us windows users a message, "For a monthly fee, windows users will not be harassed with automatic updates" ?

Yep and the first one killed the camera on my laptop and took all my pics, I was able to find the pics and get them back but camera is another story. I wish they would just stop it! First of all I hate Windows 10 and second I bought the computer not them. We should have the say of what we have to download on them!

I read about this loss of photos from many angry windows users after some automatic updates suddenly occurring which they had no control over. So you are another victim. I should save all of my photos before that happens to me too. (I am bandaging my laptop camera right now .)

I never switched to ten yet. Maybe there are bugs still which can happen with other updates or maybe it's trying to fix previous updates you never got.
Id ask a computer fixit person if this is a problem for others without taking yours in for a check. It could be a common thing, I don't know really.

Apple products aren't supposed to have viruses so I don't think they have updates as much as windows products do, but there aren't places nearby, generally, that will fix them either. If that is needed you may need to send it in to get it repaired, unless the store where you purchase one has folks that work on them also.

@MarshaMusselman Mine works fine, but some hackers will definitely attack the current Windows 10 successfully, and since I refuse to let them (Windows) update mine non-stop, mine is in danger of being hacked into. To prevent that, I could just use this laptop which has Windows 10 - for general internet, but using the Apple one for confidential stuff.

The update seems to be triggered if people shut it down or restart. You should be fine if you had shut it off successfully last time. But then again, I am not sure since my laptop was acting like it was haunted and controlled by an invisible force, it updated then updated again and again like a mad 'thing' a few nights ago. I got so mad that I stayed up all night just to find out ways to fight back. (so far so good, until the next time .)

I did use windows 10 and the forced updates made me downgrade to windows 8.1.Now I don't have problems with forced updates since I disabled updates in windows 8.1.Am okay with windows 8.1 and I can do without windows 10.Surfing the web in windows 8.1 is much faster and everything works according to my expectations.

I am thinking of doing the same, downgrade the OS. BUT I am worried about the backup of my files and ebooks and scans etc. It might be a bit dangerous, disable the updates, but they force us to do that don't they!

I am considering of getting rid of Windows 10 and re-install 8.1. I still have the disc which came with my laptop. The only thing is, I will have to backup everything before doing this step. Then again, if Windows wants to force everyone to upgrade to Windows 10, they could do that eventually too. I don't know, I will think about this a bit more.

I leave all that stuff to my IT whizzkid; I don't worry my pretty little head about it. :)

LOL, the latest update has a way to bypass whatever setting you set. You should see how many people got angry right now. (I had set mine to "no auto update", yet it happened regardless several hours ago.)
